Job Description: Railway Segment Manager

Position Overview:

The Railway Segment Manager in the Connectwell industries, India is a senior leadership role responsible for driving sales and business development within the Rail transportation vertical in India. This position requires a deep understanding of the electrical industry, particularly in relation to the railway sector, and the ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve business objectives. The Railway Segment Manager will give directions to regional sales team and work closely with key stakeholders, including railway authorities, OEMs, System Integrators, contractors, and consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Sales Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the Rail transportation, aligned with the overall business objectives and market trends. This includes identifying target customers, segments, and geographies, as well as determining pricing strategies and sales channels.

2. Business Development: Identify new business opportunities within the railway sector by actively engaging with railway authorities, contractors, and consultants. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers to generate sales leads, gather market intelligence, and understand customer requirements.

3. Key Account Management: Manage key accounts within the railway vertical, including major railway authorities and contractors. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with these accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, repeat business, and contract renewals. Provide exceptional customer service and act as a trusted advisor, offering technical expertise and solutions.

4. Transversal Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure individual and team targets are achieved. Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide ongoing training and development opportunities. Foster a collaborative and high-performance sales culture.

5. Sales Forecasting and Reporting: Prepare accurate sales forecasts, monitor sales performance, and report on key metrics to the senior management team. Provide regular updates on market trends, competitive activities, and customer feedback to support business decision-making and product development.

6. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as product management, engineering, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of sales strategies. Provide inputs and insights on customer requirements, market trends, and competitive positioning to drive product innovation and continuous improvement.

7. Industry Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and technological advancements relevant to the railway sector and electrical switchgear industry. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor's/PG degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

- Proven track record in sales and business development, with at least 5 years of experience in the electrical industry, preferably with exposure to the railway sector.

- Strong understanding of the railway industry, including knowledge of railway infrastructure, signalling systems, electrification, and relevant standards/regulations.

- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a sales team towards achieving targets.

- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.

- Strategic mindset and the ability to analyze market trends, identify business opportunities, and develop effective sales strategies.

- Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a proven ability to secure major contracts and key accounts.

- Results-oriented with a strong customer focus and a passion for exceeding customer expectations.

- Proficiency in using CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales performance tracking tools.

- Willingness to travel extensively within India to meet customers and attend industry events.
