Position: Manager - New Product Development

The Area: Indexes Team leverages its expertise in equity research, manager research, asset allocation, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions. It uses intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process - market, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity and asset allocation indexes.

The Role: As a part of the New Product Development Team, you will lead a team of analysts who participate in the full development cycle including ideation, data acquisition and processing, building an investment thesis, extensive back testing, presentation to global research team, client consultation and production implementation. The ideal candidate can deliver multiple projects within strict timelines, communicate expectations to the team, mentor team members and provide opportunities for their career development. The ideal candidate will have an excellent grasp in investment concepts, possess strong analytical skills, and liaise with senior management, other teams, and clients effectively. This position is based in our Coporate Office in Mumbai.

Responsibilities:

- Lead a team of analysts who develop novel thematic and smart beta indexes across various asset classes by leveraging intellectual property and working closely with clients, and own most of the product development cycle (be it ideation, data analysis or back-testing) leading up to the launch

- Work closely with research organization across company (Equity Research, Investment Management) as well as within Indexes (Data Management and Analytics, Product Management)

- Participate in index marketing efforts, client roadshows and seminars, and publish thought leadership pieces to promote our indexes across various outlets from time to time

- Communicate expectations, mentor team members, and provide opportunities for their career development

- Deliver large automation projects from time to time by working closely with Technology

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, financial discipline, or engineering; a CFA, MBA or graduate degree in a quantitative or financial discipline is preferred

- Knowledge of institutional investing, modern portfolio theory and portfolio construction processes

- Hands-on analytical and quantitative skills (e.g., econometrics) and practical experience with programming and database packages

- Any prior experience in managing teams is desirable

- Excellent documentation habits, oral and written communication and presentation skills including ability to distill complex ideas into simple explanations

- 7-13 years of relevant professional experience
