PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The core responsibility of this position is to build mid-term consumer experience strategy for Visual Display (VD) Business, (includes Televisions, Home Audio-Soundbars etc) along with VD CX Team in Samsung HQ-Korea.
The position will be responsible for consistently identifying gaps and opportunities for VD business and develop new game changing product, line-up, service, innovations at the intersection of Business/ Technology / Consumer Insights.
The position will be responsible for Market Sensing. It involves being on top competition products/ line-ups, feature mapping, sales analysis, trend analysis, industry analysis, big data analysis, social listening, reports published by GFK/Deloitte/Statista/BCG and consumer insights through quantitative and qualitative studies.
At the same time, this position needs to coordinate with various internal stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Service, Design, R&D teams etc) to identify market gaps and opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
- Dedicated member for VD CX projects in India to find disruptive market expansion/ demand creation/ product differentiation opportunities for VD business in India.
- Lead and/or participate, review and analyze quantitative and qualitative findings from market research to understand market & consumer trends and formulate market driven consumer insights.
- Constantly track competition and market trends in VD Industry in India.
- Constantly track sales (model/ pricing) data to find gaps and opportunities for product line-up
- Influence business strategy decisions for VD
- Work with external research agencies to manage market sensing projects
- To generate actionable consumer insights for innovation.
- To collect VOCs from various channels- sales team, service team, online user reviews etc and analyze to create insights
- To lead and facilitate co-creation workshops with consumers, experts and internal stakeholders (Design, R&D, Product Managers, Service, Sales etc) based on market insights.
- Facilitate and manage communication between the HQ-Korea, the regional sales and marketing team
- Work closely with Service Planning and Product Innovation members in VD CX.
- Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative concept validation studies.
- Participate in Product Planning activities for optimizing strategy and mid-term roadmap for VD
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (How will duties be measured):
- Ability to proactively identify business opportunities for VD business.
- Ability to successfully lead market sensing projects.
- Ability to successfully facilitate communication between various internal groups and assist in constructing cohesive mid-term product portfolio/roadmap
- Build/improve market sensing process knowledge and methods
- Help to build database for relevant resources (research agencies, research reports, academic resources, lead industry experts) and assist with proper management and maintenance of the information
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
The candidate should have 5-10 years of relevant industry experience and have one of the following competencies:
- Expertise in Statistics/ Data Analytics/ Consumer Research/ Product Planning/ Market Research
- Experience in Consumer Electronics is desired but not mandatory.
- Must be proactive, resourceful, creative and consumer minded.
- Must understand the market driven innovation process, consumer research methods and knowledge in product planning.
- Must understand how to build consumer and business value proposition in systemic way.
- Must possess good story telling and presentation capability.
- Willing to work in small team within a large corporate setting
- Willing to deal with cultural barriers that often come with the position as you will be working with Korea-based extended team.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University, advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered with good track record.
