Market Research - Manager

Overall Responsibility :

Provides direct support to the Account Director in ensuring the overall country revenue targets, for their specific product groups, are met thereby maximising Company revenues.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities :

Sales & Marketing :

- Business Development: Identify potential improvements to product sales and marketing and discuss possible strategies with Account Director/Country Manager and Regional. Attend product seminars and / or product launches where possible.

- Continually innovate, develop and suggest enhancements to existing products and pricing structure with a view to always being - one step ahead- of our competitors

- New Product Development: Identify new product categories to audit and other profitable new business opportunities by keeping up to date on industry activities and engaging in discussions with personnel from relevant departments on potential market size and key players. Discuss findings with the Account Director/Country Manager and Regional.

- Innovation/ new Research areas: Seek business opportunities in other areas of research apart from Retail audit. Discuss with clients on their needs and how can Research help the clients in growing their business with research.

- Fully understand the regulations on rate card policy.

- Brand Promotion/ Media Activity: Ensure members of the media are provided with meaningful and insightful market research data, as appropriate, to help the company achieve maximum favourable press coverage.

Account Service & Sales :

Client Servicing :

- Establish, develop and maintain positive working relationships with client contacts at all levels at all times.

- Maintain a consistent servicing schedule with all clients and ensure all materials used for the service are thoroughly checked and accurate.

- Document all requests and comments made by clients to ensure timely feedback and follow-up actions and escalate to Account Director

- Ensure that the appropriate level of service and support is provided to maximise client retention and contract renewals.

- Continually innovate, develop and suggest enhancements to the client servicing function such as new methods of analysis or service techniques.

- Ability to deliver high quality presentations to clients and retailers where required.

- Assist in the training of new Client Service personnel on software applications and client servicing techniques.

Business growth : Sales and Negotiations :

- Ensure contract renewals are planned on time and discussed with the Account Director/Country Manager and communicate with Regional.

- Ensure rate card and rate card policies are adhered to at all times

- Provide timely and reliable proposals to the Account Director/Country Manager on new client initiatives and communicate with Regional

- Where appropriate, assist the Account Director/Country Manager in the selling and negotiating of contracts to new and existing clients

- Establish, develop and maintain profitable relationships with high-level client contacts

- Assists the Accounts Department and communicate with clients if needed on any unpaid invoices.

- Contact and meet with existing and potential clients and correctly represent the Company by clearly explaining who we are and what we do, conducting her or himself in a dignified and courteous manner and presenting a neat and professional appearance.

Processes & Data Quality :

- Understanding & following of Systems, Process and Research Methodology

- Ensure full knowledge of retail audit methodologies and definitions, fully understand and apply the data control procedures and techniques, as documented

- Research department, ensure consistent data output and thoroughly understand the product manual.

- Responsible for maintaining the deadlines set for data control submission and ensuring that all data submitted to Operations is confirmed received and follow up until all data files are received.

- Plan and set, in consultation with the Field Manager, market visits to learn how data is collected and the universe checked, and to increase channel and product awareness.

Data Quality & Internal co-operation :

- Fully responsible for product data quality.

- Whenever needed, propose and discuss possible recruitment methods through existing commercial experiences.

- Maintain a positive working relationship with the other Client Service and Field personnel at all times.

- Whenever required, assist field / retailer service teams in recruiting Retailer

Market Knowledge :

- Market Expert: Maintain up to date market knowledge on all product categories audited by undertaking regular market visits, at least once a week, to keep abreast of the current and future market offerings, and regularly performing model comparisons to build a high level of product knowledge.

- Keep up to date on changes in the universe by product category by consulting with the Field department.

- Understand the channel definition, track existing channels and monitor the development of new channels. Keep all stakeholders informed.

Skills :

- Ability to grasp and quickly understand markets, methodologies and techniques.

- Good organiser with the ability to prioritise and multi-task.

- Sound analytical skills and the ability to interpret research data accurately.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills

- Good presentation skills; able to generate interest and engages the client during presentations

- Ability to maintain a positive, motivational, - get things done- attitude, especially when faced with difficult circumstances.

- Excellent sales/negotiation skills and a hunger to develop new business.

- Good relationship building skills (internal, external, and cross-cultural).

- Well-developed interpersonal skills for internal and external client; Problem solving skills.

- Sound computer skills, especially in the areas of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.

Specific Qualifications :

- MBA degree or equivalent education and at least 6 years- experience in market research. Candidate with work experience in a manufacturer company would be preferred.
