JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position title: Manufacturing Operations Manager-Plant Operations

Location: Bawal, HR

Work Schedule: 5 days a week, General Shift

Key Accountabilities:

Safety:

- Ensure adequate training/instruction to everybody at site (including internal & external visitors / contractors) with respect to hazards & safe behavior.

- Ensure adequate investigation of any safety incidents, root cause analysis and implementation of the corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

- Ensure availability of emergency response plans at all sites

- Drive and lead continuous proactive identification of risks (e.g., site walks, toolbox meetings)

- Ensure severe risks are eliminated or mitigated immediately.

- Ensure that any other risks are eliminated / mitigated in an adequate timeframe.

Operations Metrics & Strategy:

- Develops Annual Operating Plan for Manufacturing Dept.

- Standardize operational matrics and competencies and strive for achieving the OKRs

- Achieve performance standards with regards to safety, line utilization, efficiencies and quality metrics

- Adopt and adapt to Production Management, Continuous Improvement & Lean Leadership culture

Quality and Manufacturing Management:

- Implement strategies to optimize production output, optimize costs and maintain product quality standards.

- Lead and motivate production teams to achieve production targets and quality objectives.

- Develop team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals. Demonstrate knowledge of Problem solving tools like Fish bone, pareto, DMAIC approach etc.

- Implement and maintain policies and procedures to guarantee compliance with industry and company standards.

- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance.

Purchase Management:

- Develop SCM strategy and collaborate with Regional and Central SCM team to drive the company goals.

- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services.

- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.

- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to optimize inventory management and minimize stock outs or excess inventory.

Plant Maintenance:

- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and uptime of plant equipment and machinery.

- Coordinate maintenance activities, including repairs, upgrades, and installations, to minimize downtime and disruptions to production.

- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations during maintenance activities.

Logistics and Other Tasks:

- Coordinate logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.

- Collaborate with other departments to address customer needs and resolve issues.

- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes to support the growth and profitability of the plant and the company.

Expense Management of the Plant:

- Collaborate closely with Plant Finance Controller to develop and manage budgets for the plant operations, including production costs, overhead expenses, and capital expenditures.

- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce cost without compromising quality or safety.

- Monitor financial performance and analyse variances to make necessary adjustments and achieve cost targets.

Workforce Management & Discipline Management of the Plant:

- Integrate, guide and support the ER/IR department to manage the employee and industrial relations at the Plant.

- Recruit, train, and develop a skilled diverse workforce to meet production goals and operational requirements.

- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback and coaching to employees.

- Foster a culture of teamwork, diversity, accountability, and continuous improvement among plant personnel.

- Enforce company policies and procedures regarding employee conduct, safety, and attendance.

- Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, following established disciplinary procedures and applicable laws.

- Promote a positive work environment where employees feel respected, valued, and motivated to perform.

Team Development & Succession Planning:

- Plan and execute the training of team members/resources to achieve the departmental objectives and people development

- Develop team to build the organization and succession planning for every critical role

What you bring:

- Proven experience working in Manufacturing - Automotive, Heavy Engineering, Mining Equipment Industry

- Full time Engineering degree (Mechanical preferably) by qualification with 18 years and above experience

- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements.

- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams, drive performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

- Understanding and driving spirit to implement benchmarked operations metrices on SQDCME principles

- Hand-on experience on Production management system and Centre of Excellence

- Techno-Commercial experience and mindset,

- Familiarity with Matrix organization and reporting structure

- International & multi-stakeholders management exposure

- Competencies / Skills - PDCA approach, Why-Why analysis, Microsoft office, ERP, Workforce handling, Leadership skills, Highly motivated/Target oriented, Punctuality

- Behavioral - Target orientation, Good analytical skills, Excellent Communication & presentation skills, Flexibility, Team player, Networking skill, Decision making and execution, Negotiation and conflict resolution, Visible leadership, Change leadership

Key Interface:

External:

- Emergency services - Coordinate crisis response

- Government bodies - Ensure compliance to local regulations and necessary approvals/licenses.

- Suppliers - Ensure selection of suitable suppliers.

- Contractors - Ensure qualification of contractors.

- Utility Supplier - Ensure supply reliability and adherence to terms of contract.

Internal:

- Health Safety & Environment - Incident reporting, investigation and follow up.

- Procurement - Develop procurement strategies for services and materials.

- Finance - Budgeting, financial planning and reporting

- Human Resources - HR topics about the operations team

- Information Services - IT infrastructure topics

- Country Management - Align strategy and update on operational matters.

- Business Development - Cooperate on new projects.

- Project Execution - Cooperate on projects.

Educational Qualification: B.E/ B Tech

Work Experience: 18 plus years
