Manager - Legal

We are looking for a Manager - Legal in a renowned real estate firm. This position will be based in Ahmedabad and will cover Ahmedabad, Pune, and Nagpur.

Eligibility Criteria:

Qualification: LLB

A candidate with 7+ years of legal experience in the real estate industry is preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with external legal consultants in the drafting of agreements, and legal inquiring of all project-related documents and contracts in order to prevent any legal issues for the company.

- The Focus area for the role will be conducting TDDs for the acquisition of lands in and around the Pune region, knowledge and experience in handling other real estate assignments including RERA/customer litigation will be an added advantage

- Determines approach in managing litigation cases through discussion and follow-up with external consultants /advocates

- Deal with litigation cases e.g - 3rd party claims, vendor issues, customer complaints, pollution, environmental hazards, etc., and safeguard the interest of the company.

- Represents GPL in the court hearing

- Provides timely advice to other departments on concerns/queries having a legal impact

- Examines contracts made by the Contracts team to provide legal controls and checkpoints

- Generates a knowledge repository for updates on laws, regulations, ordinances, and by-laws relating to the real estate industry and makes the same available to the team.

- Conducts due diligence of properties and ensures that the title of the property is clear and marketable

- Reviews documents utilized by the BD team at the preliminary stage of the project - MoU, terms & conditions and lays out terms and conditions for the same

- Ensures that all commercial terms of the agreement are in place

- Drafts a definitive agreement with inputs from solicitors and the regional legal personnel

- Conducts discussions with JV Partners on legal aspects

- Hands over project files to the regional team once the agreement has been entered into

- Directly monitors regions that do not specifically appoint a legal person

- Mentors, guides and monitors the activities of Regional Legal teams to ensure work as per plan

- Reviews discusses and resolves issues in documents submitted by the Regional Legal team for approval
