Opportunity with one of the leading fund management organisation in Cape Town, South Africa.

Manager IT: JD:

1. Provide leadership, vision, and management to the IT department

2. Work with the senior management and directors to assess and respond to IT needs

3. Manage an IT staff of the department

4. Hold departmental meetings to review strategic goals and initiatives, promote team building and work to provide growth paths for staff

5. Provide day-to-day supervision, conduct performance appraisals, and delegate work assignments for all IT personnel

6. Assist in recruiting, hiring, and providing appropriate training for IT support staff

7. Serve on planning and policy-making committees.

8. Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to

9. Existing computer systems and software packages:.

a. Responsible for the ordering, acquisition, inventorying, and disposition of hardware and software

b. Serve as primary contact with outside vendors in the generation of RFPs, bids, contracts, agreements, and other major vendor interactions, Systems Operations and Maintenance

c. Maintain the integrity and continual operation of the IT network including the wireless networks

d. Ensure the continual functioning of mission critical operations

e. Maintain security and privacy of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment.

f. Develop, review, and certify all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans

g. Other duties, not listed, may be assigned by the Directors.

10. Working with the management team to provide strategic lead on technology, analysing and prioritising developments, outlining opportunities and ensuring a pro-active and innovative approach to our work

11. Accountable for the delivery of all technology related projects including developments of new websites and software and ongoing enhancements

12. As a senior manager, provide support for the organisation as a whole

13. Development of a cross-global technology strategy in line with corporate aspirations

14. Continue strategic approach, innovation and best practices in the use of technology and IT

15. Make decisions on short and long term uses of technology within the development/product roadmap in consultation with the management team

16. Work with the management team to ensure market leading technology and tools for digital engagement to
deliver first class content and interaction online

17. Lead and manage technical team:

a. Database Administrators

b. Datacenter Administrators

c. Application Developers

d. Application Support

e. Helpdesk Support

f. Network Administrators

g. MIS Development

with clear structure and processes for the department.

18. Ensure that policies and procedures are documented and there are defined changed management processes.

19. Manage development plans, business proposals, budgets, delivery time estimates and meeting those time estimates

20. Utilise project management methodology and agile software practices, where appropriate, to enhance business communication and to provide user scenarios for developments

21. Ensure security across all of the technical systems and software services

22. Manage and develop relationships with internal and external senior stakeholders, vendors,

23. Oversee out-sourced software development relationships, development and delivery

24. Work with other departments within our organisation to get maximum return.

25. Maintenance of error logs and Knowledge Base.

26. Keep procedure manuals and documentations up to date.

E. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Project Management methodologies – in depth knowledge and must be able to apply.

2. Member of Project Management Association. Project Management Professional (PMP) registered.

3. SDLC - must be able to apply Systems Development Life Cycle methodologies

4. Interpersonal skills, Negotiation skills, Monitoring skills and Communication skills.

5. Time, Scope and Cost management skills.

6. Proficient is Microsoft Server technology including Windows domain, Exchange 2003 and application servers.

7. Knowledge of LAN (Local Area Network) / WAN (Wide Area network), MPLS (Multi Protocol Layer Switching), ISDN, VPN (Virtual Private Network) technologies.

8. Sound knowledge of DNS (Domain Name Server), DHCP (Dynamic Host Control Protocol), WINS (Windows Internet Naming Server), SMTP (Simple mail Transfer protocol), SMB, CIFS, NSF, Windows Domain.

9. Hands on experience on SAN / NAS required (storage).

10. Sound knowledge of Virtualisation technology is required.

11. Experience on backup and restore, Disaster recovery Procedure is essential.

12. Knowledge of layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, Routers, and Firewall is essential.

13. Understanding of remote connectivity, VPN and routing.

14. Understanding of Audio, Video and Data network.

15. Understanding of PABX (Public Access Broadcast Exchange), Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technologies.

16. Knowledge of end point, datacenter and network security.

17. Hands on experience on IBM x series, P series and SUN Sparc server hardware.

18. Enterprise antivirus, WSUS (Windows Software Update Services), Web Server & SQL (Structure Query Lznguage) servers

19. Understanding Oracle / Sybase databases, backup and recovery.

20. Knowledge of Linux is essential. Additional knowledge of AIX / SUN will be preferable.

21. Project Management experience will be added advantage.

22. Experience in Banking and Financial Services Industry will be added advantage.

23. Sound judgment; initiative; flexibility; detail-oriented

24. Documented working experience with Microsoft Windows Environments, including MS-SQL and Microsoft Exchange, Internet Information Server and other applications.

25. Experience with Microsoft windows configuration, installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of TCP/IP, networks supporting VOIP telephony, microcomputers and other systems; system development, complex project management, knowledge of CISCO network hardware, client/server technology and Internet/intranets.
