The Organisation
- The Government Business Office (Company) in Bangalore was established in 2006 to expand trade and investment ties between India and the State of , Australia and is part of international office network. The org is part of the Industry and Trade division of the Department of Business and Innovation (DBI), which is lead economic development agency. Its key activities include the provision of assistance to companies wishing to enter the Indian marketplace and the attraction of Indian investment in to . The office is headed by the Commissioner to India and is staffed by a team of business development officers with a wide range of Indian business expertise and experience. The investment attraction efforts of the international network are directed by the Executive Director, Invest , supported by a team of experienced investment officers.

Job Context
- The position is located within the Government Business Office in Mumbai.. The successful applicant will be expected to increase awareness of as an foreign direct investment destination, undertake lead generation, opportunity qualification and conversion to increase investment into from India. The position will mainly focus on the Western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat but not to the exclusion of other opportunities. The successful applicant will focus on reputed, well-capitalised Indian businesses which are expanding internationally.

Key Accountabilities
1. Identify Indian sub continent based organisations with direct investment potential by formulating and executing strategies aimed at generating leads and opportunities for investment attraction including research driven target selection and pro-active
1. Marketing campaigns. The initial emphasis will be on reputed business groups in Western India (Maharashtra and Gujarat).
2. Work with potential Indian investors through their decision processes to secure new investment into Org.
3. Establish and build relationships with key Indian sub continent based executives of organisations that either already have significant investments in or are planning to make investments, working in consultation with Org-based Sector and Account Managers.
4. Maintain and build effective relationships within the Department of Business and Innovation and other Org Government departments as required. Maintain and build relationships with other related agencies in the Indian sub continent region, including theConsulate-General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Austrade, amongst others.
5. Establish and develop strong relationships with Org based stakeholders to enable collaborative progression of investment outcomes. Work closely with colleagues to support investment activities within trade missions. Support and manage visits to market by Org Ministers and VIPs, as required.
6. Manage site visits of potential investors to Org in co-operation with other Org Government staff and provide professional marketing advice and assistance regarding market entry and the formation of partnerships between Org and Indian sub continent companies.
7. Provide high quality advice and support to government, non government agencies and senior management regarding issues relevant to businesses and the economic development opportunities for the Indian sub continent region.
Key Selection Criteria
1. A good understanding of the global business environment (in particular as it relates to the Indian region) and the major issues which impact on the ability to attract international investment to Australia and Org. Demonstration of strong networks across the Indian business community.
2. A broad understanding of the trade and investment relationship between Org and India and its underlying drivers.
3. Extensive commercial experience and knowledge of dealing with decision-makers in large industrial houses in Western and Northern India (specifically, Maharashtra and Gujarat, but also in the National Capital Territory of Delhi).
4. A track record in investment attraction and/or sales and marketing. Extensive background in investment promotion and experience in business development, account management, lead generation, contract negotiation and project management activities.
5. Demonstrated experience or ability to manage relationships with complex client organisations and to facilitate major decisions in organisations requiring the input and consensus of numerous and varied stakeholders across multiple geographies.
6. Well developed communication skills, including the ability to make presentations at senior levels and successfully conduct commercial/financial negotiations.
Qualifications
While not essential, a post-graduate qualification, preferably an MBA from a leading institute, is preferred.
