Instructional Design Manager


The Challenge

The Instructional Design Manager is responsible for supervising and facilitating the development of training content and curricula, for creating innovative solutions for instructional delivery challenges, and ensuring learner engagement and impact in all training to Community Support audiences. As the direct manager of a team of Instructional Designers, you are responsible for managing these direct reports, ensuring that they are fully supported and able to produce exemplary training, in line with stakeholder expectations. You are a mentor, promoting an environment that is relaxed, collaborative, high-functioning and high-performance.

What you'll do :

- Partner with the Training Leadership team in identifying and prioritizing organization training development needs

- Recommend instructional methodologies, such as bite-size vignettes, simulation exercises, and classroom facilitation as appropriate for organizational requirements, learning outcomes and learner characteristics

- Develop and employ internal quality assurance standards for Community Support training curricula

- Recommend changes to curricula or delivery methodologies, based on real-time data, such as instructional effectiveness, current or future performance of audience, feasibility and costs

- Contribute to the design, development, and continuous evolvement of Training technology and tooling, ensuring the Instructional Design team is at the forefront of industry and professional advancements

- Partner with the Training Leadership team to ensure all development projects are in alignment with business priorities and Operations audience expectations; developing realistic timelines based on team resource capacity

- Collaborate with external training content vendors to ensure cost-effective, high-quality learning program design and deployment; as and when programmatic needs dictate

- Design and continuously improve upon instructional design planning, tracking and program governance mechanism


- Support the Training Leadership team in preparing business review reports, presentations, and other communications to illustrate global team value, effectiveness and impact

- Set team and individual performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, recognize and reward performance, in turn ensuring the team realize their professional goals

- Create and maintain an internal onboarding process for new Instructional Designer team members

What you need to succeed :

- A minimum of 2-3 years of training or teaching experience with adult learners

- A minimum of 5 years of working as a people leader, managing instructional design teams

- A minimum of 5 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing blended training solutions

- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training methods and solutions

- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of instructional technologies and related applications

- Intermediate knowledge of e-learning standards, tools, and blended learning approaches

- Intermediate understanding and proficiency with current versions of Articulate Storyline & Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator and other related training technology (not necessarily working directly with applications at a professional level)

- Intermediate knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, content production frameworks, and coordination of people and resources

- Intermediate knowledge of learning technology applications, systems, and associated industry trends and insight

- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with experience in collaborating with people from varying cultures with different perspectives and opinions

- Understanding of Kirkpatrick's Model of Learning Evaluation, and the implementation of training and learning benchmarks, effectiveness and impact metrics; indicative of training productivity, up to operational return on investment

- A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, customer service, relationship building, and collaborative performance development

- Strong aesthetic, design composition, and typographic abilities

- Demonstrable practice writing effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts

- Proficient in the use of the Google Suite (Google docs) in a fast-paced collaborative environment

- Proficient working in a Mac environment
