Job description - Manager, External Communications

Job Overview

The External Marketing Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing communications initiatives that enhance the organization & brand visibility and engagement with external stakeholders. This role focuses on creating compelling content, managing media relations, and leveraging various communication channels to drive awareness, engagement, and positive public perception.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Content Creation:

- Develop engaging and persuasive content for press releases, articles, blog posts, social media posts, website copy, and other external communications.

- Craft clear and impactful messaging that aligns with the organization & brand and values.

2. Media Relations:

- Cultivate relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to secure media coverage and build brand awareness.

- Coordinate media inquiries, interviews, and press events, and manage media databases.

3. Social Media Management:

- Develop and implement social media strategies to enhance brand visibility, engagement, and reputation.

- Monitor social media channels for mentions and trends, responding promptly and appropriately.

- Develop and implement a social media marketing plan to support online presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and Glassdoor.

- Self-author and commission Short form (social media posts) and long form (blogs and articles) communications.

- Manage digital properties: Website, landing pages, vendor partner microsites (Naukri).

4. Public Relations Campaigns:

- Manage and work with the external Public Relations team for brand augmentation, by engaging with key media and various external stakeholders and influencers.

- Plan and execute public relations campaigns that align with organizational goals and objectives.

- Monitor and evaluate the impact of PR campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed.

5. Brand Management:

- Conceptualize and execute SLGS' external communication strategies to drive greater visibility for the brand, build thought leadership creatively and increase SLGS share of voice in the GCC segment.

- Ensure consistency in messaging and brand identity across all external communications.

- Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand guidelines.

6. Content Distribution:

- Utilize various communication channels, including press releases, email newsletters, social media, and webinars, to distribute content and engage target audiences.

7. Crisis Communications:

- Assist in preparing and executing crisis communication plans, maintaining transparency and professionalism during challenging situations.

- In case of crisis, make sound judgement in managing crisis working with internal and external stakeholders to minimize impact on the SLGS brand.

8. Market Research:

- Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activities, and opportunities for the organization to stand out.

9. Collaboration:

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, design, sales, and senior leadership, to align messaging and campaigns.

10. Analytics and Reporting:

- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of external marketing communications efforts.

- Provide regular reports and insights to stakeholders, recommending adjustments as needed.

Strengths/Qualifications we are looking for:

- Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (Master's preferred).

- 8+ years of relevant experience in the agency side or the client's side.

- Exposure to working in or a sound understanding of GCC ecosystem.

- Proven experience in external marketing communications, media relations, or public relations.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.

- Proficiency in social media management tools and content management systems.

- Familiarity with media monitoring and PR analytics tools.

- Familiarity with various communications channels (print, online, audio, video, podcasts, blogs, etc.).

- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Creative thinking and the ability to develop innovative communication strategies.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing circumstances.

- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in external communications.
