The Manager - Indirect Tax will be responsible for leading the Business Services Mumbai Indirect tax team by providing operational guidance and direction over process transitions, solution designs and establishing the Indirect Tax service delivery.

- The Manager will have overall accountability for accuracy & timeliness in preparation, review and filing of transaction tax returns for Client's global locations and predominantly for European & US region. This individual will also assist in the implementation of process improvements & initiatives that ensure that company's tax efficiency & effectiveness are maintained at all the times.

- The Manager will be a business partner to the Tax team partners with cross functional teams for implementation of adequate internal controls for avoiding any non-compliance.

- The Manager will also support the Global Strategic projects in area of Finance/Tax as required.

- Manage, coach and develop indirect tax team within Global Tax.

- Manage complex indirect tax returns and perform comprehensive end to end review of the Global Indirect Tax returns prepared in shared service center.

- Ensure all indirect tax process transitions and delivery follows a well- defined methodology.

- Manage relationship with transaction tax consultants and provide timely and accurate information to consultants for transaction tax.

- Identify improvement areas and collaborate within the team and with the other functions to achieve best possible results for Client's as a company.

- Manage and expand a team of 2 to 3 members and lead by example to enhance trust, respect and teamwork.

- Manage tax calendar with appropriate segregation of tax return responsibility and monitor proactively, the completion of deliverables within agreed timeline.

- Manage the analyzing of the complex transaction tax data, identifying anomalies, and resolving them in a user friendly approach.

- Proficient in extracting data and producing reports from sources such as SAP, one source tax calendar.

Specific areas of responsibility within Indirect Tax include but not necessarily limited to the following :

- Ensure seamless and accurate delivery of indirect tax returns with no misses on timelines and nil review points.

- Preparation of complex Transaction Tax returns VAT (for EMEA and APAC), Intrastat and EC Sales Lists) for Europe, Canadian and US entities and other regions as they arise.

- Monitoring of timely indirect tax payments through E-Payables module with no misses.

- Provide timely and accurate monthly VAT cash flow statements to cross functional teams like treasury.

- Manage Tax Calendar and report exceptions proactively.

- Review stock movement invoices and archive them timely at central repository based on the information provided by supply chain team.

- Manage the collation of foreign VAT invoices for VAT refund claims to be made to the relevant tax jurisdictions

- Manage tax accounting for indirect tax accrual and payments.

- Support internal audit, statutory audit and tax assessments for transaction tax.

- Support training and guidance to staff regarding indirect tax.

- Maintain complete documentation of transitioned processes and contribute in development of business continuity plan.

Work Experience (Years, setting, etc.) :

- 5 to 7 years of experience in a shared service environment in a multinational.

- Leadership experience in a Shared Services environment required.

- Strong knowledge of European & US Indirect Tax processes is a must.

- Experience with SAP a must.

- Experience in Outsourcing (Shared Services) required; strong focus on analysis and reporting within a service delivery environment.

- Experience in service tax & VAT compliance for entities operating in India in SEZ area will be an added advantage.

Education :

- Chartered Accountant/CPA.

- MBA Finance.

- Commerce Graduate

- Strong people management skills.

- Ability to multitask to achieve organizational objectives.

- Willingness to achieve results, under extreme time constraints.

- Strong understanding of business and its impact on specific indirect tax processes.

- Knowledge of SAP is a must.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with superior ability to express thoughts clearly and confidently in English.

- Team work and must be able to work within a collaborative environment.

- Exposure to Continuous Improvement Tools (Lean or Six sigma).

- Rigor, reliability, ownership and accountability, and a good professional maturity.

- Customer service oriented.

- Adaptability to a multicultural environment and proficiency in working with various regional shared service centers across the globe.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; exposure to other business reporting and analytical applications a plus.
