JOB DESCRIPTION -

Reporting To: Head - Data Science & Advanced Analytics

Department: Measurement Science

Function: Data Science & Advanced Analytics

Role Objective:

The Data Scientist supports the Head - Data Science & Advanced Analytics by conducting data extraction, data manipulation, and advanced analytics in order to support both the Pure Science & Methodology and Research Intelligence & Operations teams within the Measurement Science Department as well as various corporate projects.

Job Responsibilities:

- Conducts experimental data mining, fusion and data modelling projects.

- Designs and applies modelling algorithms to be deployed for production improvements.

- Discovers new data sources and new uses for existing data sources.

- Creates and enhances statistical models for numeric and categorical data.

- Designs fusion and modelling approaches and documents processes and outcomes.

- Works across a broad range of data platforms, formats and processing techniques.

- Cleans, modifies and formats large data sets.

- Combines technical skills with business savvy to transform large amounts of data into relevant and actionable insights.

- Uses advanced Analytic techniques such as Log-linear Modelling, CHAID Analyses, Regression Analysis, Markov Chain Attribution, Logistic Regression, Clustering, Decision Trees, Optimization, Simulation, Cross Validation etc.

- Develops new technical skills and improves business knowledge to encourage innovation.

Measure of Success (KRA- s):

- Provide accurate statistical inference and analysis on data sets allowing for the deeper understanding of patters in the television viewing data

- Successfully develop code to support analysis, data extraction, or data manipulation

- Develop various statistical, fusion, and calibration models

Job Specifications:

- Minimum Education M.Sc. or PhD in Applied Statistics, Biostatistics or other quantitative field with very strong statistical background

- Minimum/Relevant Experience 2 to 5 years professional experience with specialized experience in statistical inference (Frequentist and Bayesian), data mining, machine learning and predictive analytics.

- Minimum of 2 years of project experience working in Python.

Behavioral Skills:

- Strong communication skills to present models and results to varying audiences.

- Concentration and creativity required daily using sight, hearing and touch to extract and verify data quality, analyze diary survey diagnostics, maintain databases, perform statistical analysis, solve complex problems, write programs, respond to inquiries, attend meetings, etc.

Technical Skills:

- Specialized experience in data mining, machine learning and predictive analytics.

- Advanced knowledge of parametric, non-parametric and Bayesian statistics (e.g., Markov Chain Monte Carlo, Conjoint Analysis, Neural Networks, binary or multinomial Logistic Regression, Log-linear modeling) required.

- Expert level knowledge of R and Python required.

- Knowledge of structured and unstructured databases

- Project management skills an asset
