Analytical Developer (Business Intelligence Developer)

The Analytical Developer contributes towards designing and developing reports, dashboards, scorecards and other Business Analytics assets. The Analytical Developer plays an important role in enabling large and complex data sets to be presented and accessed in a simple, intuitive and easy to understand format for various user groups.

1. Responsibilities

- Analyze business specifications and create diagnostic and descriptive analytical reports

- Understand Database structures to translate physical data models into metadata-based business layers

- Design and develop optimized semantic models that will enable self-service analytical capability

- Design Dashboards and Scorecards taking into account best practices and principles like horizontal and vertical cascading, drill-downs and drill-throughs, etc

- Conceive and develop visualization based analytical artifacts that present information in an easy to understand format

- Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

- Conduct comprehensive analytical tool evaluation and develop proofs-of-concept to demonstrate functional and technical capabilities of various products

- Enable the delivery and exploration of data via mobile devices

- Develop and implement custom scripts and SQL to augment existing functionality of analytical tools

- Interface with the other members of the Data & Analytics team to develop queries, reports and analysis

- Design and prepare standard and ad-hoc reports and summaries for business reporting and planning purposes

2.1 Technical Skills

- 5+ years of overall experience in the Business Intelligence and Analytics domain

- B Tech, B.E, MCA or equivalent degree from a reputed college

- 3+ years of hands-on experience in developing business analytics reports and other components using IBM Cognos

- Strong experience of developing data and analytical components like reports, dashboards, scorecards, etc

- Broad understanding of other business analytics and BI tools like:

- SAP Business Objects

- OBIEE

- Microsoft SSAS and SSRS

- Microstrategy

- Strong knowledge of at least one of the following visualization tools:

- Qlikview

- Tableau

- Spotfire

- Strong experience in designing and developing semantic business-friendly metadata layers

- Good experience of developing logical and physical models, especially the dimensional and snow-flake types

- Good understanding of the other components of the Data & Analytics stack (e.g., Datawarehouse, Marts, ETL, etc), and corresponding tools

- Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner

- Understanding of both transactional and analytical data environments

2.2 Must have Soft Skills

- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

- Good Analytical and problem solving skills

- Able to organize, coordinate, and direct users and teams

- Experience of working with distributed and remote teams

- High degree of personal motivation and ability to self-manage

- Must possess a high-level of attention to details

- Must work well independently and in a collaborative team environment
