Loylty Rewardz - Manager - Data Science - IIT/NIT/BITS

Key Responsibilities

You will be working with client relationship managers, product owners and developers to generate understanding, strategy and suggest actions based on data. You will be a blend of data hacker, business analyst, coder, communicator and guide to translate terabytes of data into customer insights or usable solutions.

- Lead and build a team of Trainee Data Scientists, Junior Data Scientists, Data Scientists and Assistant Managers

- Co-ordinate with multiple clients / stakeholders and team members on multiple projects and supervise seamless delivery within timelines

- Should demonstrate thought leadership in the domain and be ready to work/guide hands-on if required

- Pro-actively identify opportunities for application of analytics in the organization

- Understand organization's analytical needs and convert business problems to analytical problems

- Develop and deep understanding and intuition of our clients- and our business interests

- Take full ownership of your and your team's work, from the initial idea-generation phase to the implementation of the final product to its maintenance and improvement

- Execute/deliver most critical projects independently if required

- Transform large complex datasets from various sources (transactional, digital, logs, campaigns..)

- Give pragmatic, actionable business / consumer insights in a well-presented manner

- Work with cutting edge tools like GreenPlum, R, Python etc. and arrive at the best approach to solve challenging problems

- Work with a team or independently on coding, data manipulation, integration plus deployment to production systems

- Create marketing plans or campaign ideas and derive ideal target groups for campaigns based on various call to actions

- Develop and automate Business Intelligence frameworks

- Develop new algorithms for predicting or influencing consumer behavior prediction (eg: next purchase, attrition etc.) - Build, validate and deploy into production

- Gather requirements from and present final deliverables to clients

- Mastering the fast evolving data structure and infrastructure; Understanding constraints and troubleshooting to arrive at workarounds when required

- Work on end-to-end data management including database design, data update processes, data pipeline set-up and enriching data quality

- Understand and experiment with different statistical and machine learning algorithms and apply them for business problems

- Challenge ideas and methods while working together with talented, highly skilled team members.

- Independently define & solve problems, research & development, self-learning and skill development

- Build training material and contribute to ideation and capability development in the team

- Interview for recruitment and guide other members in the department

Candidate Profile

Experience:

- 4 to 8 years of experience in data science or analytics with significant exposure to data mining and working on end to end projects through structured problem solving

- Expertise in data wrangling, analytical projects and its presentation

- Hands-on expertise with advanced Excel. Hands-on knowledge of Tableau / Metabase is a plus

- Hands-on expertise in data manipulation, e.g. through SQL, Python, Java/Scala or R

- Should have expertise in multiple programming languages (Eg: Python, R, C++, Java). Prior experience in big-data technology like Hadoop, Spark etc. is preferred

- Hands-on experience with any one scripting tool, (e.g. Python, bash/batch scripting)

- Strong exposure to usage of multiple machine learning frameworks or statistical techniques

- Prior experience in team management. Client management exposure is a plus

Skillset:

- Strong analytical skills and good aptitude in programming and logical reasoning. Should be able to structure problems through logical thinking from first principles and interpret data meaningfully

- Proficiency in data manipulation with at least one tool is a must. SQL expertise is preferred here

- Must be able to adapt to a fast-changing technological environment and learn new tools quickly. Should be able to experiment with various tools and techniques

- Deep understanding of statistical and machine learning algorithms with the ability to tweak them for performance and accuracy if required. Understanding of algorithmic foundations of optimization and distributed computing is a plus

- Expertise in data mining and data wrangling. Good knowledge of data structures and data management is a plus

- Ability to identify and implement and improve the right models and techniques as per business needs and design, implement production-ready solutions. Prior experience in productionizing data science solutions is preferred

- Strong sense of initiative with a go-getter attitude - ideate and experiment to identify areas with potential for improvement and come up with recommendations or solutions at work

- Strong sense of ownership and commitment to the team's work. Should be painfully detail-oriented but pragmatic and be able to coordinate multiple timelines and ensure their achievement

- Should be efficient and effective communicator. Should be able to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders and convey complex analysis results clearly with conviction to them. Should be able to learn from and teach others in the department. Should have excellent presentation skills

- Should have excellent team management and project management skills

Qualification:

- B.Tech/BE/B.S from a premier institute OR

- Masters in Mathematics / Data Science / Analytics or related field from a premier institute
