We are hiring for a Loss Analysis Expert (Risk Engineer Services) for a leading Re Insurance Client.
Job Location is Bangalore.
Role:
We are looking for support on building up a loss database and analysing losses for the risk engineering team. This will include General Property as well as Energy (Oil & Petrochemicals, Mining and Utilities) and Casualty losses. The main tasks would be:
- Development, Specification, Maintenance and Ownership of the RES loss database.
- Monitoring the status of losses and ensuring new losses meeting our criteria are recorded in the database.
- Ensuring that RES Engineers complete assigned loss analysis tasks in RES
- Conducting periodical data analysis of the loss data from RES e.g. using Power BI.
- Ensuring the programme of writing up lessons learned is carried out by designated RES Engineers. The candidate will also be required to develop lessons learned documents from existing loss information.
- Regular communications with different stake holders such underwriting, claims and the risk engineering community.
- Develop progress and status reports to the RES Management Team as directed by the team Leader.
- Formulate new ideas - how to gather information on new losses, communication of loss information internally and externally, etc.
- Close interaction / collaboration with the various regional Engineer/s, various IT teams based in Bangalore and worldwide
- Collaborating with various internal and external teams on best practices and industry updates
- Support internal and external processes and workflows, suggest improvements based on data analysis and provide insights into the enterprise operations.
- Proactively maintains and expands own expertise .
Skills/Qualification:
- A degree (preferably a Chemical or an Industrial engineer)
- Strong industry knowledge of any one or more selected industries - ideally by having worked in these industries for several years in multiple roles (preference to those who can demonstrate their keen interest and/or involvement in loss understanding and analysis)
- Experience in Risk Engineering in Insurance / Reinsurance in addition to above would be added advantage but not a must
- Min 12-15 years' relevant experience preferred (those with less experience but min 7-10 years relevant can also apply, but would be considered for a lower band)
- Good IT knowledge (Excel, Macro, VBS as well as DB programming expected; Share Point knowledge desirable but not a must)
- Self-motivated and independent learner
- Has a very strong service-oriented approach backed up by very good skills in communicating with various global teams
- Can exhibit and demonstrate analytical thinking to drive insights from data with the ability to communicate data findings through engaging stories that are easy to understand
- Can identify new opportunities to bring new process improvements specially in reporting aspects
- Can quickly assesses the big picture in complex situations and identify what is critical
- English language proficiency, another international language could be advantageous, International experience preferred
- Has good negotiating capability and is strong Team Player
