Logistics Specialist - 3PL/Transportation/Freight Forwarding

Position Summary :

The Logistics Specialist position is responsible for quoting, scheduling, booking, executing, coordinating and purchasing logistics services in a compliant, transparent manner, via standardized system and process, leveraging clients corporate or business approved specific transportation rates and vendors.

- The logistics specialist will collaborate with various personnel in internal team, client's personnel (sourcing, project management, procurement) as well as with external logistics companies.

Essential Functions :

- Provide logistics quotes by gathering data from requestors and carriers.

- Analyze all key characteristics (weight, dims, origin, destination, delivery need dates, time available) and select the most optimal transportation method/service in terms of cost, cycle time, and risk.

- Execute shipments of materials while obtaining accurate contact information for approved shippers, transportation companies, customs brokers, importer or record, and delivery address.

- Place transportation orders with approved logistics service providers as per the rates and conditions stated in clients contracts with the logistics service providers.

- Manage premium cost approval process.

- Track and trace shipments until they reach the final destinations

- Notify consignors/shippers, consignees/delivery locations, clients- personnel, during the transportation events planning and execution appropriately. Resolve promptly emergency and crisis situations. Cooperate seamlessly with other personnel of companies performing same transportation management services for the client in other regions.

- Accountability for compliance, due diligence, and all transportation charges

- Record, maintain, update data in transportation management systems (ILS, OTM, other) within specified deadlines. Capture all data points (i.e. dates, shipment, tracking, cost, documentation) for optimal transport execution, sourcing and reporting needs.

- Analyze current freight utilization and flow by compiling and analyzing shipment activity data.

- Identify opportunities for improvements in processes, team dynamics, systems, cost, performance, customer satisfaction, etc. and work with appropriate managers, leaders and team members to create action plans, implement and measure.

- Create shipping documents according to specific instruction/process.

- Attend meetings and calculate freight savings.

- File and track freight claims as necessary.

- Provide charts and graphs of freight charges on a monthly basis.

Qualifications :

- English and India language proficiency

- Bachelors or equivalent college degree - Focus preferred in logistics, finance, international business or related field

- Experience in logistics or international trade

- Experience with multicultural teams or clients environment welcome

- Excellent communicator and superb customer service skills

- Data analysis experience.

Special Requirements :

- Capable of domestic and international travel - proper travel documentation required.

Salary Range: 12 - 18 LPA
