Job Summary : The current socio-cultural landscape has made it pertinent to look at an interdisciplinary approach with its manifestations in various domains like livelihoods, health and education. There is thus a felt need for professionals with in-depth and technical understanding of livelihoods, both as in the academic discourse as well as in its praxis, to help cull out nuances. The current role would require the candidate to use the gender lens from the conceptualization stage of the study to writing reports and dissemination of the knowledge. Essential Functions : The Livelihood Expert will perform following key functions: 1. Critically analyze policy, research and programme interventions using a rights-based approach with an appreciation and understanding for livelihood rights. 2. Design studies on livelihood issues to intervene in existing discourses, also identify gaps in existing knowledge, conceptually and methodologically. 3. Lead livelihood related researches and exhibit proficiency in research methodology and evaluation techniques, focused on livelihood as well as international mandates pertaining to the same 4. Provide technical input and guidance on livelihood issues in the planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of projects and initiatives to build more evidence 5. Exhibit academic rigor and zeal to contribute to the larger discourse by way of papers, publications and other forms of writing 6. Provide inputs to colleagues on livelihood issues, challenges, and opportunities, and work as a team player to promote gender equality and support activities that further strategic institutional goals The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job. Doctorate/Masters in Public Health /Public policy/Economics from Premier Universities with specialization in livelihood or relevant discipline. Experience: 1. 8-20 years- work experience in Research. 2. Experience on applying cutting edge development research theories and evaluation methods. 3. Experience of working in the social and development research and with large data sets is desired. Personal Competencies: 1. S/He should be a strategic thinker and visionary, can bounce creative ideas and articulate different approaches in ways that simplify and demystify concepts, information and ideas, to present them with a gender and equity perspective 2. Is well-versed with the contemporary and historical debates/policies in the field of livelihood and builds on this rich experience to guide research, both qualitative and quantitative. 3.
