Lifestyle Researcher - Consumer Lifestyle Trends & Insights - Mobile Phones Business

SECTION 1 


PURPOSE OF POSITION 


The core responsibility of this position is to develop Consumer Lifestyle Trends and Insights which can inspire mid-term product concepts for Mobile Phone (IM) Business. The position will be responsible for managing Lifestyle Research projects through external market research/design research/ innovation agencies on project basis. At the same time, this position needs to coordinate with various internal stakeholders (Product Planning, Marketing, Sales, Service, Design, R&D teams etc) in India and Korea for initiation and successful execution of LRL projects.

SECTION 2

JOB RESPONSIBILITY - 

- Dedicated member for IM projects in India.

- Develop monthly trend reports through desk research.

- To lead consumer research (qualitative and quantitative) phase of New Concept Development (NCD) project and co-work with Advanced Concept Designers & NCD Project Managers to ensure successful translation of insights to product concepts.

- Lead and/or participate, review and analyze quantitative and qualitative findings from market research to understand market & consumer trends and formulate market driven consumer insights.

- Constantly track technology and consumer trends in Mobile Industry in India.

- Work with external market research, design research and innovation agencies (Indian and Global firms) to manage Lifestyle Research projects (insights & opportunities)

- To generate actionable consumer insights for innovation.

- To lead and facilitate co-creation workshops with consumers, experts and internal stakeholders (design, R&D, service, sales etc) while creating insights and opportunities.

- To document and visualize insights for executive storytelling.

- Facilitate and manage communication between HQ-Korea, the regional sales and marketing team for initiation and execution of lifestyle research projects.

- Design and conduct qualitative and quantitative concept validation studies.

- Advise Product Planning Teams for optimizing strategy and mid-term roadmap for Mobile Biz.

SECTION 3

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS (How will duties be measured)

- Ability to proactively identify consumer insights for Mobile Phone business. Lead 3-4 research projects.

- Ability to successfully deliver insights which lead to 2-3 innovative mid-term concept development

- Ability to successfully facilitate communication between various internal groups and assist in constructing cohesive mid-term product portfolio/roadmap

- Build/improve innovation process knowledge and methods

- Build new and relevant assets for conducting innovation management

- Help to build database for relevant resources (research agencies, design agencies, strategy and innovation agencies, academic resources, lead industry experts) and assist with proper management and maintenance of the information

SECTION 4

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

The candidate should have 5-10 years of relevant industry experience and have one of the following competencies:

- Expertise in generating actionable ethnographic insights for innovation.

Specialists in: Anthropology/ Ethnography/ Human Factors/ Social-Cultural Studies/ Contextual Enquires/Heuristic Evaluation / Videographer/ Material Culture studies/ Sociology/Psychology

- Experience in Mobile Phone Industry is desired but not mandatory.

- Must be proactive, resourceful, highly creative/innovative and consumer minded.

- Must understand the market driven innovation process, consumer research methods and knowledge in product planning.

- Must understand how to build consumer and business value proposition in systemic way.

- Must possess good story telling and presentation capability.

- Willing to work in small team within a large corporate setting

- Willing to deal with cultural barriers that often come with the position as you will be working with Korea-based extended team.

- Minimum Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University, advanced degree (Masters/ PhD) preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered with good track record.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

- Must be willing to travel frequently in India.

- Requires frequent conference calls between overseas offices during evening hours.
