Lenskart - Head - Procurement

Lenskart is looking for purchase and procurement head to join us as part of the senior management team and support our eyewear manufacturing operations. This role is critical for the growth of Lenskart, given the exponential expansion plans at hand. We are known for our technology-first orientation and customer centricity.

Lenskart aspires to develop a world-class organization in eyewear. We are fully integrated manufacturing facility with lens lab to manufacture lenses, frame manufacturing set up and comprehensive manufacturing for eye wear at Gurgaon. The incumbent will be responsible for working very closely with the manufacturing operations team. This position will be responsible for sourcing suppliers and develops relationships to negotiate and buy goods, materials, capex and services to meet the Company's operational requirements. This includes supplier selection, tendering and cost estimating.

Core Responsibilities :

- This position will be completely responsible for all direct purchase and procurement of glasses, frames materials, packaging material, consumables as well as capex procurement at our warehouse cum plant

- Material Planning & Management

- Development & implementation of key procurement, inventory management strategies.

- Improve the overall packaging by understanding packaging cost, design and quality

- Inventory Management

- Vendor Management

- Negotiation with suppliers

Strategy and Development :

- Create and implement best practice purchasing vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance

- Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets, which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market to include: Terms and conditions, supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and rationalization of supply chain solutions including vendor managed inventory, supplier consignments and safety stock

- Take ownership of the purchasing policy, guidelines and any associated documents

- Initiate and develop creative and innovative procurement processes

- Packaging Procurement

- Detailed understanding in determining packaging cost, packaging design and quality of the packaging material and getting the right one to be procured

- Technical expertise and understanding of packaging technologies

Capex Procurement :

- Procurement of heavy machines/ CNC/ Polishing machines as per the plant requirement

- Maintain machinery cost when the plant is expanding

- Capex, spares and consumables for the plant through various suppliers

Desired Candidate Profile :

- 10 - 13 years of experience in direct purchase and procurement

- Expertise in packaging improvement and development of packaging material procurement

- Inventory management experience

- Vendor negotiation and management

- Demonstrated experience in capex procurement as well as consumables; along with packaging

- Ability to interact with cross functional teams, understand efficiency gaps and close the loops

- Ability to take decisive action based on professional and practical analysis of situations

- Experience and knowledge of leading a team, including the natural ability to motivate, coach & mentor staff to maximize results
