Job Title : TTS Counsel

Business : Treasury & Trade Solutions (Asia Pacific)

Reporting to : Regional TTS Head Counsel, and CSC Site Head

Location : Mumbai

Job Purpose :

The candidate will provide legal support to the TTS Cash Management and Trade business in Asia, both at the regional and country level, and will have direct management responsibility for all TTS Legal staff in Mumbai.

Job Background/Context :

- TTS Legal is a global team of lawyers and contract negotiators, based in six centres around the world, that provides product legal advisory and deal negotiation support to the TTS Business globally, including throughout the Asia Pacific region.

- TTS offers integrated cash management and trade finance services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organizations around the world. With a network that spans more than 100 countries (including 18 in Asia), and a comprehensive suite of digital and mobile-enabled platforms and tools, TTS supports over 65,000 clients.

- TTS Cash Management offerings include, among other things, deposit and account services, payments and receivables, liquidity management, working capital solutions, and commercial cards.

- TTS Trade offerings include, among other things, receivables financing and forfeiting, working capital and supply chain finance, commodities trade finance, open accounts, and export credit agency-backed financing, as well as more traditional trade services such as letters of credit and bills discounting.

Key Responsibilities :

- Serving as manager of the TTS Mumbai Legal Team, with direct oversight responsibility for all other employees on the team

- Advising TTS Management, Product, Sales and Operations colleagues with respect to legal and franchise risks and mitigants in respect of TTS global and regional product offerings

- Advising Country Legal management in APAC, and business, operations and functional colleagues at the country level, in respect of local derivations of TTS global and regional product offerings

- Review, negotiation and drafting of complex legal documentation at a regional and, where appropriate, country level; this includes identifying deviations from organisation and other material legal or franchise issues, and ensuring that such items are raised and resolved appropriately, in consultation with relevant constituents in Legal, Risk, Business, other

- Working closely with Compliance, Risk and other control function colleagues with respect to advisory and documentation issues, as - warranted

- Advising on changes in law and regulations relevant to TTS across key countries in APAC

- Initiating and driving global documentation projects, including the development of new internal standard form templates

Development Value :

This position provides an excellent opportunity to hone one's management skills. It also provides the opportunity to work with and support a wide range of TTS businesses across 18 countries in the Asia Pacific region with respect to new product approvals, new program rollout, cross-jurisdictional deals, multi-jurisdictional legal due diligence and similar projects. The candidate will work closely with Legal and Compliance colleagues across the region, with TTS Global Legal team members in other regions, as well as with stakeholders in Risk, Operations and other areas. The role will involve regular contact with clients across the Asia Pacific region.

Knowledge/Experience :

- Relevant experience in a law firm or financial institution

- Financial regulatory experience is an advantage

- Prior management experience is a significant plus

- Knowledge of laws with respect to data protection, privacy, offshoring, intellectual property is a significant plus

- Fluency in English.

Skills :

- A skilled project manager and negotiator who can proactively work with a wide range of colleagues of varying seniority in both business and support roles

- Able to respond to a broad range of needs and develop business friendly solutions to requirements while balancing compliance with multiple legal, regulatory and internal policy requirements

Compulsory :

- B.A.LL.B (Hons.) or equivalent qualification from an accredited national university in India or elsewhere

- Admitted to practice law in India or other common law jurisdiction.

Preferred :

Masters : degree in law from a well-regarded university in India or the US, UK, Australia

Competencies :

- Effective communication abilities

- Ability to manage a significant portfolio of concurrent client negotiations and other matters

- Responsiveness, diligence, attention to detail

- Ability to work in a team; adaptability

- Adept at building consensus among internal constituencies, including across product, region, legal, risk, other

- Ability to drive results, delivering concrete output on or ahead of schedule
