Legal Manager - BFSI

OakNorth is a new entrant in the lending sector in the UK. The company has raised over GBP 20 million in equity, and is backed by a very strong investor group with deep experience in financial services. The company’s strategy is to focus on the unbanked SME market, providing growth capital (unsecured and secured against a variety of asset classes or multiple assets).

OakNorth will be building all of its middle and back office functions out of its Gurgaon offices.

The company is currently looking for professional to act as a legal advisor. The position would entail advising on every legal aspect pertaining to the company.

Location - Gurgaon

Aptitude - Should be willing to work in a small team

Work would involve:

- Drafting, reviewing & vetting and negotiating various service contracts / agreements / Deeds / Affidavit / MOVS, required to cover commercial arrangements with the client and vendors.

- Creating and revising contractual templates.

- Handling legal queries from various in-house departments.

- Providing advice to the senior management on legal matters.

- Legal research.

- Liasioning with external lawyers and firms in Company’s matters.

- Coordinating with all the departments to assist in legal and compliance aspects.

- Dealing with Govt., Semi Govt authorities and also attending hearings before the collector and other authorities (as and when required).

- Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.

Required Background

- Law degree from a reputed college.

- Demonstrate knowledge and experience in handling commercial contract administration, particularly contract negotiation, preparation and administration for at least 8 years;

- Knowledge of Labour laws and exposure to UK laws.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively within tight deadlines.

- Good planning and organization skills.

- Extremely pro-active.
