Legal Manager - Bank

Job Summary:

The National Legal Manager at Bank is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the legal functions of the bank at a national level. The National Legal Manager will lead and mentor a team of Zonal Legal Managers, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and providing strategic legal advice to the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the banking industry, including SARFAESI Act, asset distribution laws, and other applicable statutes.

2. Manage and oversee all litigation matters pertaining to the bank, including but not limited to recovery suits, disputes, and legal proceedings. Coordinate with external legal counsel as required.

3. Provide legal guidance and support for non-litigation matters such as drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and legal documents.

4. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Zonal Legal Managers, providing guidance and support for their professional development and performance.

5. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.

6. Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.

7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as business units, risk management, and compliance teams to address legal issues and provide legal advice and support.

8. Prepare and present reports on legal matters to the Legal Head and senior management as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a recognized university.

- Minimum of 10-14 years of experience in a legal role within the banking or financial services industry, with a strong focus on SARFAESI and asset distribution.

- Experience in managing a team of legal professionals is preferred.

- Excellent knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
