Head Legal

PURPOSE: The incumbent will be in a leading position in the business by providing leadership to the legal department and legal leadership across the business. He/She/They will have to provide proactive, in-depth, legal, business-focused advice to the business, as well as implement initiatives and processes to set standards and reinforce a culture of integrity, quality, ethical behaviour, and responsibility across the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but not limited to)

General :

- Safeguarding the interest of the company from any legal cases/ claims related matter

- Overall review of risk management policies mainly with reference to insurance coverage

- Maintaining various agreements under control for any unauthorized usage

- Organizing secretarial audits on an annual basis and ensuring its proper compliance

- Providing support on various legal and secretarial matters across businesses.

Legal Advice :

- Provide senior leadership across the business with strategic and operational guidance, aiding them in the management of litigation issues such as contract disputes and product liability.

- Reviewing and providing advice to the business upon request on matters concerning applicable contracts required for operation of the business.

- Instruct and assists external legal partners where necessary identifying potential legal risks and assessing the issues impacting legal risk, which ensures that all of the business's risk management approaches are viable.

Handling work related to Company Law for group companies:

- Identifying the companies for takeover of work related to company laws

- Obtaining the required records

- Formulating time frame for compliance with the Companies Act, 1956

Coordinating with various external counsels :

- Developed Standard Engagement Letters/Agreements (case wise).

- Case updates, Case files, and evidence

- Coordinate with various International and Domestic arbitrators, lawyers and law firms in specialized areas of law applicable to the dispute.

- Coordination with various Investigation agencies under various law

Team management :

- Ensure all members of the legal team work efficiently

- Conduct legal training for staff

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE :

- A LLB (law) with at least 8+ years of overall experience.

- Must have a demonstrable track-record producing effective and high-quality legal advice to departmental heads within a business, leading to enhanced integrity in both internal and external affairs.

- Proven ability to delicately solve sensitive matters.

- Good with compliance and drafting.

- Self-motivated, result driven individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
