Leadership Role - Oracle Performance & Stability Specialist

Our client is leading International Bank, their products and services include advisory, financing, prime services, research and analysis, securities services, trading and sales and transaction banking. They seeking an experienced Consultant to work in the Performance & Stability team for complex and high-volume Oracle Application used in area

Job Responsibilities are :

- Provide Oracle expertise for a majority of design/development activities acting as part of the quality gate into all project phases

- Work closely with business & IT Project Managers to ensure delivery of solutions consistent with Finance IT's Strategic Architecture

- Work closely with DBA's, storage teams and system administrators to diagnose hardware, OS and software issues

- Provide out of hours support to the production batch with a focus on Oracle diagnostics and performance tuning/management

- Provide input to performance test environments, test plans and analysis

- Support the testing Manager in the execution of system testing, integration testing and UAT.

- Build good working relationships with other IT departments and relevant business areas

- Full delivery life cycle, from initial design through to deployment and support.

- Ensure best practices are followed.

- Ensure governance (review/guidelines) are maintained

- Mentoring other members in the wider team.

Essential For the Role is :

- The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working on high-profile data warehousing/OLTP projects for similar scale organisations in AGILE environments.

- Excellent Oracle SQL query writing, including ANSI SQL and PL/SQL abilities

- Experience of some commercial ETL tools and bespoke development

- Finance experience is desirable - knowledge of Finance business processes and front to back Investment Banking processes.

- Understanding of scheduling tools such as Control - M

- Experience of agile methodologies, especially SCRUM

- Experience with agile engineering practices such as TDD, Continuous Integration, automated testing and deployment

- System monitoring using tools such as AWR/ASH/ADDM, Plexus and Unisphere

- Application/System capacity planning for future proofing

- Any exposure to Oracle 12c, ObjectStore or database visualization technologies would be highly desirable

- Strong experience in investigating and tuning Oracle performance issues.

- Experience in SQL plan management using SQL Baselines/Profiles and DBMS_SQL_DIAG_INTERNAL

- Tuning Oracle and OS related parameters for optimum performance

- Good understanding of Oracle statistics management and the impact on the CBO and query execution

- Excellent understanding of Oracle partitioning strategies

- Strong development DBA

- Highly developed reasoning and very strong analytical skills
