A Policy and Advocacy Lead is sought to assist the ED in developing and executing a policy and advocacy strategy, identifying the policy priorities, and shaping internal and external communications strategies, that are critical to achieving the vision of the Initiative and to coordinate and lead all policy linkages and partnership related activities. The overarching goals of this role are (a) to help establish and strengthen as an institutional actor in the field of women's economic empowerment.(WEE) (b) to inform and influence the national discourse on WEE; and (c) to accelerate the dissemination and utilization of evidence that is generated. S/he will ensure that the intended policy, programmatic and research audience within the WEE ecosystem is engaged, including academia, thinktanks, national and state governments, policymakers, private sectors players, international organisations, donors and civil society organizations working on gender and WEE.

This position will closely work with research agencies, think tanks, financial institutions, technology firms, and women collectives or groups, to gather information about and keep track of key policy matters that need to be addressed, modified, and added to the existing policies and regulations to create an enabling environment to achieve the objectives of this Initiative. S/he will also support the affiliated researchers in developing policy related reports, formulating policy recommendations from research findings, and producing other support documents such as policy briefs, fact sheets and evidence briefs. S/he will undertake the scoping of national and global research and policy platforms to identify opportunities for presentations and visibility and will also track opportunities for journal publications. S/he will also develop and execute an internal and external communications strategy, including, but not limited to, coordinating the quarterly newsletter and webinar series.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Actively collaborate with various work streams within organizations to create and execute the strategic policy and advocacy plan

- Overall responsibility for organizations policy advocacy and communication strategy;

- Develop key relationships in the women economic empowerment sector with governments, civil society, NGOs, private sector etc.;

- Serve as point of contact with policymakers and regulators, engaging them in a constructive dialogue and identifying opportunities for the to support broader policy objectives related to women economic empowerment.

- Oversee processes for monitoring trends in the women economic empowerment sector in India, and curate knowledge products around existing and forthcoming policy and regulations affecting the sector;

- Lead and manage engagements with a multitude of stakeholders/partners engaged on the various projects.

Candidate Description -

The ideal candidate should be passionate about gender equality advocacy, and familiar with national and global policy discourses and frameworks for WEE. S/he should be viewed as a credible expert and researched in the field of gender and WEE. S/he should have experience in managing policy related working groups, facilitating policy dialogues and developing strategic partnerships with policymaking bodies, as well as with a wider range of stakeholders in the WEE ecosystem. The candidate will be responsible for managing a team comprising of advocacy and communication specialists and a portfolio of interventions related to policy advocacy and communication.

- Commitment and passion for gender equality advocacy

- Experience in the field of gender policy analysis and advocacy

- Demonstrated experience in gender research and stakeholder management;

- Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead and motivate teams;

- High networking skills and demonstrated ability to interact with a varied set of stakeholders including Government officials and departments;

- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, able to express complex technical issues in plain language;

- Organized, critical thinking and attention to detail
