Lead Estimator

Description: This position is heavily involved in our bidding process for federal, state, and local disaster recovery and construction bids and proposals. A successful estimator will have a strong understanding of scope of work, compliance, standards and requirements, and how to source the products and services required when completing a job. This role works closely with other teams, including Proposals and Business Development, and a strong focus on teamwork and communication will be key to the success of this position.

Strict adherence to safety standards and procedures is required for all employees, including the use of PPE.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for researching bids and generating work

- Commit to meeting deadlines and related target goals/benchmarks, which may include long or odd hours

- Coordinate bids and obtain and analyze bids on projects

- Work closely with related departments to ensure that bids are as accurate as possible

- Sort the current bid list and keep information updated

- Assess client criteria and requirements to complete a project, and estimate cost to complete the project in order to inform others involved in our bidding process

- Prepare accurate pricing of estimates, including labor, required services, and material

- Obtain adequate number of plans and specifications

- Develop material cost information for specific project types

- Provide other services such as change order pricing, attending pre-bid conferences, and site visits

- Report findings in detail, with recommendations on best course of action

- Maintain all data and records in an orderly and timely fashion

- Manage time, workflow, and duties efficiently

- Other activities and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of work as an estimator on disaster recovery, construction, or related industries

- High school diploma or equivalent required

- Willingness to travel to work sites as needed

- 4-year degree in relevant field or additional equivalent experience preferred

- Ability to productively communicate and work with a diverse team with varying skillsets and areas of focus

- Strong time-management, organizational, and communication skills

- Ability to analyze scope of work, requirements to complete a bid, and potential complications

- Positive, can-do attitude and an ability to problem-solve

- Willingness to follow and enforce any safety procedures and use safety equipment

- Intermediate math skills

- Advanced in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc)
