Within Alvarez & Marsal Europe, the Corporate Solutions (ECS) practice will be built on deep industry sector expertise with a demonstrably differentiated ability to address the most complex business problems and deliver dramatic and sustainable business performance improvements. We will operate in three industry sector clusters: Retail and Consumer Products; Utilities, Transportation and Infrastructure; and Telecommunications, Media and High-Tech. In each industry sector we will identify and focus on a clear target client portfolio and invest in building these relationships. Our industry sector leads will also be supported by specialist functional leads in areas such as Supply Chain, Finance, IT and PMI/Carve-outs.

Working either in an advisory capacity or taking the reins in an interim C-Suite role, the ECS leadership team will comprise a group of truly outstanding senior industry and other specialists providing corporate clients with solutions to complex business issues. Within this team, an opportunity exists for a Senior Director, Digital Transformation - the sector being defined to include publishing, games, advertising, apps, music, film and TV. To succeed in this role you’ll need to be adept at parachuting into complex situations in both private equity and public companies and assume responsibility for contributing to business development, product development, operations and being a valued contributor to the engineering team.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for supporting the team in building the profile and reputation of the Firm in the field of addressing the challenges that Digital Media businesses face in driving profitable growth in today’s challenging market conditions. The Senior Director will be experienced in addressing these businesses critical issues, and will reflect the operational distinctiveness that is A&M; a business savvy, outcome focused business entrepreneur who is driven to making an impact, determined to make a difference and not afraid to challenge the status-quo.

Specifically, the Senior Director, Digital Transformation will be responsible for:

- Supporting the delivery of the Digital practice business plan to generate annual fees and sustained repeat business.

- Leading engagements with clients – leading A&M teams and quickly becoming accepted as part of the fabric of the client's management team.

- Using their network of contacts to generate leads and opportunities for the Digital practice and the wider A&M firm.

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be a high-energy and successful Digital sector expert with extensive knowledge and practical sector experience in commercial strategy, operational management and sales & marketing transformation. The appointee will have a strong track record in in a fast growing start-up or digital division of a blue chip media company. Ideally, they will also have advisory experience, either from a top tier strategy firm, a leading specialist and/or niche advisory firm or ‘Big 4’ consultancy.

Specifically, the successful appointee will demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

- Recent, relevant leadership experience in a fast growing start-up or division of a media business.

- Strong recent experience in general management, product development, marketing and business strategy in an online company.

- Innovation and experience in building digital business models.

- Can conduct an initial rapid diagnostic into the company's immediate and future operational issues, market position and options for performance improvement.

- A track record of advising and supporting business leaders to deliver profitable growth through effective business partnering and decision support

- A well-developed network across the UK and wider European Digital Media communities

- Strong insight into how current and future technologies can contribute to competitive edge.

- Coaching and developing more junior members of the team as well as managing upwards across the relevant MD/Senior Management community.

- Robust analytical rigour.

- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and uncertain environment.

- A strong academic record ideally including an MBA.

- Fluency in one or more European languages, in addition to English, is highly desirable.
