Opening for Lead Analyst Portfolio Credit Monitoring


- 7 - 10 years of experience across the credit transaction life cycle, with a good understanding of credit products, exposures and limit management process, documentation and credit assessment, including monitoring from an early warning indicators (EWI) perspective.

- Support credit risk function of global banks in establishing and effectively managing the risk management processes. The identified associate will provide business leadership and execution support (as required) to Portfolio Credit Management & Limit Monitoring and Management processes:

- Provide effective oversight for limit / covenant monitoring and portfolio management process:

- Understand existing framework and establish a standardized process for the team managing credit limits and covenant thresholds

- Establish process, including escalation matrix, for the team to record accurate thresholds and identify/report breaches against established thresholds

- Regularly liaise with varied stakeholders across business, risk, and legal

- Build an adequate governance structure for timely connects with Relationship Managers and Credit Officers to discuss risk remediation plans, challenge existing process, manage escalations, waiver requests and effectively close the monitoring process

- Draw up remediation plan to plug identified gaps, leveraging past experience / industry best-practices

- Establish an effective Early Warning Indicator (EWI) Monitoring and Management process to identify appropriate red flags in advance and manage risks:

- Oversee buildout of early warning teams, including transition of existing teams under the new framework

- Leverage domain and industry experience to design appropriate EWI thresholds (financials, sentiments, macro data, market indicators, industry data, ESG, internal data) for different segments of the portfolio

- Benchmark results and challenge selection of EWI variables and defined thresholds. Identify, define and recalibrate thresholds (tweaking rules and weeding out false positives) to increase robustness of the system

- Help identify appropriate EWI models that can be researched and leveraged for building appropriate algorithms - an algorithm built after considering multiple EWI variables using statistical, machine learning and deep learning methods

- Establish a process for the team to identify trends, patterns, and threshold breaches to track portfolio health and monitor EWIs to predict credit stress. Assess EWIs at various levels of granularity for timely corrective action

- Build a reporting process to drive actionable management of potential credit deterioration; provide management relevant insights on key and emerging risks

Qualification : CA/MBA Finance/CFA/FRM

Skills : Should have 6 to 9 years of experience in credit risk function

- Associate with Credit Officer/Analyst or Credit Portfolio Manager Background is strongly preferred

- Credit risk, approval/ monitoring experience, gained either through industry or within a consulting environment; Corporate, commercial/ SME or IB experience

- Experience with remedial / troubled credits; Knowledge/ experience of a wide range of credit products (e.g. cap markets, Transaction Services, derivatives etc.)

- Should be familiar with credit monitoring process from an early warning signals perspective

- Willingness to dig deep into data, and build additional insights into the credit portfolio

- Reporting skills in tools such as Tableau, SQL, Python etc.

- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written); knowledge of Spanish, Polish or Chinese would be an added advantage

- Independent and decisive mindset; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; a structured working style with passion for deep diving into problems

- Team player

- Ability to work on tight deadlines

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
