We are recruiting for a Power and Utilities (P&U) sector aligned Consultant in the team. The desired candidate here may not directly come from P&U background only but heavy assets (operations/ maintenance/ instrumentation experience in heavy engineering industries) background will also be useful. The key responsibilities for this position include:

- Working as a part of the KPMG US Strategy team to deliver projects in the P&U serving as an extension of the US team sector

- Drive operational strategy, operations excellence, market assessment, and due diligence engagements and support development of thought leadership and new client business development (BD) and proposal support

- Operational excellence - Undertaking a detailed analysis of the operational models of the client's business and suggest cost and other operational optimization opportunities. The candidate should be able to work with large set of data available from various functions/divisions of the client's business and create models (using tools such as excel, SNL, or Alteryx) to drive analysis. Knowledge of operations strategy and competition/comparator benchmarking studies to rationally provide evidence for optimization opportunities will be required

- Market assessment (Commercial Diligence) - Ability to conduct an assessment of external markets to identify opportunities for the client's business and provide recommendations on the feasibility of business plan in terms of timeline, cost and other required resources. The studies may require developing a set of options that are most suitable for the client backed by clear analysis and evidence (through research, modeling exercise and qualitative insights in slide writing)

- Thought leadership and business development support - Conceiving, designing and undertaking work in the P&U sector to develop thought leadership and point of view documents. Conducting the required primary and secondary research and quantitative analysis to help potential/present clients in assessing the impact of a change in market dynamics

Desired business skill sets for this position are as follows:

- Technical experience - operations experience in heavy assets industries such as oil and gas refining, chemical plants, power and utilities, manufacturing plants, etc. will be useful for this position. The candidate should have worked at position where she/he was involved in operational planning/ maintenance/ supervising operations across engineering verticals/ instrumentation, etc.

- Some consulting exposure along with the desired technical exposure (mentioned above) will be preferred

- Well versed with terminologies and concepts in plant operation (such as oil and gas, chemicals, power and utilities, engineering, etc.) maintenance, instrumentation, supply chain engineering, etc.

- Strong numerical, analytical and strategic thinking skills in the engineering domain and the ability to assess technical information to synthesize key strategic insights

- Ability to drive dialogue and engaging communication with engagement stakeholders

The candidate should possess the following functional skillsets for this position:

- Ability to work directly with Partners, Directors, Associate Directors, Managers and Associates on client projects and BDs in the area of due diligence advisory, investment advisory, cost optimization studies, business plan formulation, etc. in the energy domain

- Leading/ managing project work-streams and analysis on P&U/heavy assets engineering engagements and taking responsibility of driving analysis and slide packs with small teams when required

- Ability to effectively challenge and contribute through the full course of the projects starting from business development to scoping and final delivery to the clients

- Working collaboratively with onshore teams in the development of and delivery of engagements, analysis, and recommendations

- Taking responsibility for the development and coaching of junior team members particularly on heavy asset analysis skillsets

- Actively supporting an Assistant Manager/Manager delivering projects and BDs and managing relationship senior KPMG stakeholders and end clients
