Job description:

A Technology Business Incubator (TBI) at KLU is an Incubator for start-ups in the domain like (a) Biotechnology, (b) Information & Communication Technology, (c) IoT is being established at KLU campus under DST NIDHI.

Glimpse of Incubator:

- This incubator supported by Technology Business Incubator is focusing on domains like (a) Manufacturing and Engineering, (b) Information & Communication Technology, (c) Water, Sanitation, Solid Waste Management allied technology domains. Primarily the incubator will work with early-stage start-ups who have a demonstrable Proof of Concept for their innovation. This will be located in KLU Campus and wish to be a lead innovation and incubation center in state and national ecosystem. 

- The Incubator will be leveraging the core strengths of academia and allied stakeholders associated with KL University and adapt the best practices available globally in this domain. This incubator will be supporting innovations coming from various academic campuses, Alumnus, local ecosystems and create a strong innovation pipeline as a feeder for this. Our incubator will run various programs throughout the year to hatch some of the best entrepreneurial minds and turn them into scalable technology start-ups in mentioned domains. 

- We wish to give all possible support to our incubates so that they become a good product-market fit and upscale their ventures. We wish to collaborate with the best ecosystem enablers, investor networks, R&D labs, Product design facilities, Research Institutes, and others who can support our start-ups at different stages of the value chain.

Roles and Responsibilities:

- The CEO of K L Technology Incubators Foundation at KL Deemed to be University will be the operational and de-facto executive head of the Incubation Centre at KLU. The Head will be assigned an appropriate title, either that of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / Chief Operating Officer (COO) or equivalent post-selection.

- The Head shall be appointed under the aegis of KL Technology Incubators Foundation. The Head shall collaborate with and report to the Board of Directors, KL Deemed to be University.

- It is expected that the Head shall play a crucial role towards establishing the Technology Business Incubator from afresh and manage its growth and sustainability.

- The Head will be required to lead all operations of the Incubator, give it strategic direction, build and scale incubation programs, outreach programs, measure impact, as well as collaborate with national and global ecosystems

Desired Candidate Profile:

- A Graduate/Postgraduate from any nationally reputed institute/university having Minimum of 8 years of overall work experience, with a) substantial experience in the Translational Research/startup / Innovation /Entrepreneurship domain, either as a startup founder/co-founder/core team member /key employee of a start-up or b) as a key enabler of startup/Innovation ecosystem or c) in a lead position in reputed Innovation & Startup promoting organization or d) an academician with substantial proven inclination towards innovation, entrepreneurship, product design and allied domains.

- A Graduate/Postgraduate in any streams related with(a) Manufacturing and Engineering/ (b) Information & Communication Technology / (c) Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, An MBA or higher degree with relevant experience in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship may be added advantage. Candidate who have helped start-ups/Incubators to scale up through funding/market development and allied means will be preferred. If the candidate is from a Start-up background, he/she should have raised funding from credible sources or expanded his start-ups to a certain level. Experience of building a start-up though it might have failed at a decent stage is valued positively as this experience would be quite handy for nurturing start-ups.

- Applicants must be able to clearly demonstrate entrepreneurial skills and past experience as an enabler for startups/Innovation ecosystem or as an entrepreneur or startup founder will be handy. The candidate should have the ability to develop a network with the local or regional institutions, stakeholders and take a leadership role in creating a support system for incubated start-ups.

- Applicants with previous experience collaborating with government departments/agencies / allied organizations/Private sector, along with a demonstration of fundraising for non-profit organizations shall be preferred for shortlisting.

- Applicants must mandatorily have a clear understanding of local, national, and global startup ecosystems and the ability to find ways to collaborate with ecosystem stakeholders for advancing the objectives of the TBI.

- Applicants should be able to clearly demonstrate an understanding of innovations and incubatees in mentioned thrust areas.

- Applicants must be able to clearly demonstrate leadership and management skills, and previous experience leading teams and programs is a must.

- Applicants must possess a strong command of the English language, preferably with suitable proficiency in Hindi. Applicants are expected to be well suited in conceptualizing, compiling, and putting together papers, presentations, documents, proposals, etc.
