Job Title : DGM / GM (SCM) - Capital Equipment Sourcing

Reports to : Head - Group Procurement & SCM

Division/Dept : Group Procurement & Supply Chain Management

JOB PURPOSE :

- To efficiently Source Capital Equipment at Group level considering the Total Cost of Ownership & Life Cycle Costing; enhance meaningful partner relations; plan and direct implementation of policies & processes aligned to Group Values which support key business objectives and deliverables; deliver with speed of execution to match the organization pace; to ensure that the internal customer expectations for deliverables in terms of time, cost and quality are met, in line with Business Objectives.

- To continuously scout for synergies across Group and convert into implementable programs.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Sourcing :

- Responsible for Sourcing of Capital Equipment at Group level required for various businesses including Power Transmission, Infrastructure & Real Estate.

- Typical equipment would include earth-moving equipment like excavators, dumpers etc., RMC plants, material-handling equipment like cranes, manufacturing plant & machinery etc

- Detailed understanding of relevant contractual and legal matters to protect company's interest

- Manage and constantly evaluate alternatives & prospective suppliers

Cost Efficiency :

- Identify opportunities and work out the cost reduction possibilities through key drivers like sourcing efficiencies & value engineering, etc.

- To analyse the alternatives using Total Cost of Ownership & Life Cycle Costing principles.

- Scout for opportunities to ultilize available resources within group rather than source.

- Evaluate Lease / Hire vs outright purchase

Partner Relationship Management :

- Align Partners with Group systems & processes

- Set up periodic meetings & visits at appropriate levels.

- Jointly work with Partners for value engineering & cost reduction.

Audit Compliance of processes :

- Ensure compliance of various procurement processes and demonstrate through conduct of internal as well as statutory audits.

- Understand various risks and put systems to mitigate the same

MAJOR CHALLENGES :

a. Speed of execution without compromising on process adherence - to have simplified processes with adequate controls and automation.

b. Cost efficiency - to find opportunities to reduce cost through alternative sourcing and efficient ways to do the job.

c. Alignment with BU teams - to understand the need of the BU & recommend in line with the same

KEY DECISIONS :

1) Finalize & recommend procurement from the optimal source based on TCO & Life Cycle Costing

2) Evaluate Lease / Hire vs outright purchase

DIMENSIONS :

1. Spend: Around Rs. 100 Cr per anum

2. Geographical span: Pan India; 3 major Group companies; 8 Purchase Units

3. Systems : Multiple across Group such as different instances of SAP

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE :

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :

Engineering Graduate with MBA in Supply Chain / Finance or ICMA

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE :

15 to 18 years in any professional organisation in the area of Supply Chain function, Cost Control, Vendor Development etc., with significant exposure to Capital Equipment Procurement

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES :

- Commercial and Business Acumen

Negotiation Skills

- Process oriented approach

- Building & nurturing partner relations with vendors.

BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES :
