Data Management Associate

Description:

- As a Data Governance Sr. Associate for JP Morgan Chase's Chief Administrative Office (CAO), you will fulfill a central role in the CAO Data and Analytics Office's book of work, which includes data strategy, data governance and data risk management.

- You will partner with Subject Matter Experts across the Firm in support of managing Data Classification/Metadata Management, Quality, Protection, Storage, Retention and Destruction, Use and Privacy, and forge strong partnerships with our key technology and business partners.

- The primary objective of the CAO Data Governance team is to provide the resources, tools and support necessary to monitor, manage and prevent data risks across a global landscape, lead strategic projects that drive business value, and foster a culture of data ownership throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

- Play a key role in the development and implementation of the CAO's Metadata Management Center of Excellence (COE)

- Advise or influence leadership in the development of goals, objectives and roadmaps for highly complex business and technical needs

- Maintain subject matter expertise in data classification policies, standards and processes, as well as legal and regulatory requirements, with a heavy focus on metadata needed to adequately manage risks associated with Retention, Destruction, Privacy and Protection

- Design and conduct complex analysis to identify and remediate metadata quality issues and/or control gaps

- Maintain process to account for any regulatory or legal changes impacting classifiers

- Maintain adequate knowledge of technology/tooling to support metadata management, and provide input into requirements for future tooling, representing CAO business stakeholders

- Partner with Information Architects to ensure Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models are accurate and maintain currency

- Plan and prioritize business glossary development, partnering with business stakeholders and technology partners

- Support development of job-aids, training materials, and recommend improvements for complex, cross-functional metadata management processes

- Support monthly metrics reviews and provide input narrative for applicable data stores

- Ensure effective and efficient coordination of activities with key supporting resources across the organization

- Prepare and deliver key data management communications and analyses supporting CAO leadership committees, councils and forums

- Support modernization efforts including moving to the Cloud and a Federated Data Lake

- Lead initiatives and maintain project plans, milestones, risk/issues and status reports

- Mentor and coach staff on data management industry standards and best practices

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

- 8-10+ years of financial services industry experience in data governance, business controls, data/risk management or technology controls preferred

- 6+ years of metadata management experience, including foundational knowledge of best practices and industry standards

- Experience with metadata management, data cataloging and mapping data lineage in enterprise data governance tools like Collibra, Informatica, Atlan, Alation, Ab Initio, etc.

- Experience in creating Metamodel, business glossaries, data dictionaries, data catalog, etc.

- Excellent understanding of Data Management functions (Data Taxonomy, Data Lineage, Data Governance)

- Knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to evaluate controls, create procedure and process flows in conjunction with business and control partners

- Mapping CDEs to appropriate processes, Data Domains, Data Concepts and Data Sources and maintain accurate business process map

- Reviewing business glossary with the process owner and publish it to enterprise metadata repository

- Independent self-starter with the ability to handle multiple priorities and produce successful results in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to senior leaders

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills required

- Capability to coordinate and manage projects across functional teams, IT professionals, and other key stakeholders

- Strong relationship-building skills, demonstrated consultative approach and proven skill in influencing others

- Drive communications, stakeholder engagement and resolution of complex issues

Nice To Haves:

- Experience in Data Catalog and Data Quality Technology/Tools (Collibra, Informatica)

- Knowledge of Global Data Privacy Laws, Regulations and Requirements

- Familiarity and/or general use of business intelligence tools (QlikSense, QlikView, Tableau, PowerBI)

- Agile/Scrum experience and associated tools (Confluence, Jira, Kanban)

- Experience in Information Architecture

- Certified Cloud Practitioner

- Certified Data Management professional (CDMP, DCAM, Collibra, Alation)

- Lean/Six Sigma experience
