About CAU: The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) in Mumbai is a part of the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) - Credit Risk function for JPMorgan. CAU works closely with the in-country Credit Bankers/Credit Executives and provides comprehensive credit risk analysis of clients - covering industry, business & financial profile; as well as recommendations on credit facilities & risk grades. The team is structured along industry lines with primary divisions being Financial Institutions and Corporates. CAU was set up in Jan 2003 and is a 90+ member team at present. It covers CIB clients primarily across Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia.

Role: Associate (for FI clients)


- Prepare in-depth credit risk analysis reports on assigned FI clients (covering macros, sector, business, financial and credit issues). Come up with a rating recommendation on the clients and the facilities

- Supervise work delivery for junior analysts on the team. Understand various techniques and methods of credit analysis, accounting treatments, financial adjustments etc.

- Build strong knowledge on allocated geographies and track sector developments and their credit implications on an on-going basis. Add value to the analysis with strong sector expertise and share industry insights with Credit Bankers

- Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with Credit Bankers

- Track the client and update bankers on key developments w.r.t their clients or industry and potential impact on credit rating


- 4-8 years of experience in credit risk; FI experience preferred though open to candidates with Corporate credit skills

- MBA from a top tier school or professional qualification in Accountancy

- Excellent academic record; strong finance and analytical skills

- Strong grasp of corporate finance concepts and their application

- Understanding of the financial statements, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and basic accounting standards

- Aptitude to learn and develop knowledge on credit analysis techniques, sectors and global economies

- Strong communication skills - both oral and written; ability to effectively present analysis and interact with global credit bankers

- Deadline orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy

- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Power Point

- Ability to work proactively & independently as well as in a team environment

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build positive relationships with Credit Bankers globally
