The Director, Regional DM head- within the Integrated Data Analytics and Reporting (IDAR) group is accountable for the quality of all Data Management deliverables for all trials supported by the regional employees in an efficient manner. The position is responsible to develop and drive the local Data Management strategy and deliverables aligned to the overall IDAR, global Development/ Janssen Research and Development, and local R&D strategies. This position reports to Data Management Head. There are regular interactions with the DM Head, DM Leadership team, and local R&D leadership team to identify and share input for strategies and approaches. Work is received in broad terms and this position is provided independence for execution. Direct, oversee and coordinate all activities and resources within Data Management across all Therapeutics Areas supported in the region. This position will implement initiatives to establish and maintain Data Management as a best in class organization. This position is also responsible to collaborate with the DM Leadership members to provide input on process optimization and innovation ensuring alignment across Data Management. This position supervises Data Management Leaders and may supervise other roles as assigned. This position is accountable for recruiting, resource planning, people management and development of all employees within their organization to meet current and future business needs. Coaching and mentoring others as needed. This position provides input into the development of departmental policies, procedures, training and standards. Principal Responsibilities: - Provides input to Data Management strategy and deliverables, process optimization and innovation across compounds and projects within the region. - As part of the Data Management leadership team, contributes to decisions on business strategy, processes, outsourcing and resource allocations across sites. Provides strategic input into the evaluation and reassessment of departmental processes. - Provides input to partners on study prioritization and resource allocation to ensure support for regional portfolio. - Provides input and approval on resource demand for the regional Data Management team, as part of budget planning in conjunction with Data Management peers and DM Head. Also supports resource allocation and planning in support of global portfolio deliverables. - Develops regional sourcing strategy aligned to DM sourcing strategy. - Makes recommendations around process/policy deviations to adhere or adjust to local or project requirements. - Provides leadership to the regional Data Management team by attracting and retaining top talent, developing team members, and ensuring organizational effectiveness, transparency, and communication. - Charged with making decisions associated with the management of assigned personnel and local administration, including hiring, performance management, space allocation, supplies, budget, travel, etc. - Undertakes people development responsibilities through coaching, training, and performance management as well as ensure compliance with department SOP's, policies and regulatory guidance documents. - Accountable for the decisions made by the Data Management Leaders from a performance perspective. - Coordinates with other DM Functional Leaders and colleagues to ensure alignment of departmental roles and responsibilities. - Collaborates within and outside DM to support flexible coordination of activities to deliver on the Janssen portfolio with a focus on the local portfolio. - Accountable to provide input into the development of departmental policies, procedures, training and standards. - Identifies process optimization and innovation within the region and ensures alignment with global processes and procedures across Data Management. - Participates in and/or lead global cross-functional and cross-company initiatives, as applicable. - Lead process improvement projects, as needed, to continue building best in class Data Management organization. - Provides strong Janssen regional DM industry presence and leadership Principal Relationships: Functional Contacts within IDAR include but are not limited to: Data Management Head, Clinical and Stats Programming Head, DM TA Heads, Data Acquisition and Coding Head, all other peers in Data Management, IDAR TALs, Regulatory Medical Writing, RM-CM (as collaborator or peer). Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: - BS/MS/PhD plus 10-12 years of experience in a leadership function in clinical data management or statistical programming with expert knowledge required in at least one of the two areas. - Excellent people leadership skills and people management experience of 5 to 7 years is strongly preferred. - General understanding of data management and statistical programming practices and systems is needed. This position requires a knowledge of regulatory guidance documents such as ICH requirements, inter-departmental processes, and relevant Clinical R&D concepts. In-depth knowledge of project management, team leadership and people development practices. This position requires knowledge related to talent development and relevant personnel policies and procedures. This position requires knowledge of cross-functional working environment and industry trends that have an effect on departmental resources. This position also requires knowledge of sourcing strategies, resource management, and organizational impact. Excellent leadership, decision-making skills and proven ability to foster team productivity and cohesiveness. Operates and executes without supervision. Refined oral and written communication skills, including effective negotiation, influencing, and active listening. Strong customer focus and belief in Credo values.
