Geographical Impact : - Sub Function, All Business Unit, Region / multiple countries - Function, All Business Unit in 1 Ctry - Function, 1 Business Unit, Region Summary of the Role : - A key member of the JLT India Senior Management team, responsible for efficiently running and leading Insurance Broking Operations for JLT Specialty group companies extended teams for UK, Australia, US and Canada in Mumbai with accountability on all service delivery parameters for Pre Renewals, New Business, Renewals and Claims Operations. - The Head of Operations reports to the Director Operations and will be responsible for the overall running of the JLT Re India Insurance Broking Operations. The estimated team size is approx. 300 specialized resources across various IB Operations Teams. - The Head of Operations plays a key role in stabilization of new processes being migrated within the designated area and subsequent smooth running of the same. This includes setting up of performance metrics, regular monitoring of performance, ensuring controls are in place for every process, ensuring Risk Analysis is performed for every process, ensuring adequate training of resources including cross training takes place, establishing communication channels with various onshore teams and building relationships for long terms success of the processes. - Key accountabilities include developing & maintaining close relationship with UK/Onshore operations and frequently interacting with stakeholders to resolve service related issues, planning and delivering projects. Innovation and identification opportunities for improvement are strongly expected. Influencing skills will be a key success factor. The position holder will have to manage the operational efficiency and growth of the team members while maintaining the cost case. - The role also involves working closely with other functions within JLT India namely HR, Finance, IT and Risk to ensure processes receive adequate support from each function as well as implementation of relevant controls in each work area. In this role, he/she is expected to ensure performance metrics are established for each process, regular meaningful performance reports are being produced and analyzed leading to an action plan. Principle Accountabilities : 1. Operational Management: Execution of client SLAs, meeting of deadlines, Setting benchmark KPIs and facilitating achievement of those. Manage operational / team performance through Senior Managers. 2. People: Attract, motivate, manage and develop teams that are focused at all times on service delivery to internal JLT clients as well as external clients serviced from India. Build managerial capability, operations delivery capability, create effective training needs, ESAT and organization structure (right people for the right job). 3. Stakeholders / operating companies: Develop a strong relationship with senior stakeholders in JLT and leverage the relationship to drive strategic objectives. 4. Customers & Clients: Ensure delivery of high quality services and ensure quality management through the implementation of our standard tools and frameworks. Build a culture of Client Focus in the teams to drive an enhanced Customer experience. Should be able to effectively challenge practices and influence clients to drive change in the interest of our customers. 5. Regulations: Responsible for Compliance and Audit obligations for processes through extensive control and operations risk framework in line with corporate policies and guidelines. Managing key risks, including but not limited to E&O, regulatory, operational, people, reputational risks within the business function 6. Internal departments (HR/finance/IT): Ensure adherence to SOPs and work with the teams to deliver superior services to our internal as well as external stakeholders. 7. Strategy: To contribute to design, plan and lead the implementation of JLTI's short to medium term operations strategy for relevant business units. Initiate and assist in JLT India's strategic focus initiatives. 8. Ideation, Standards & Excellence: Should be able to envision and implement strategies for excellence in operations and people management. Should be able to benchmark operations effectively and create standards in chosen areas Context : a. Operating Environment : - JLT India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson group (JLT). The JLT group has two main lines of business Employee Benefits and Insurance Broking and has its presence through owned companies in over 36 countries and through a network its presence is in over 100 countries. - The Operations team primarily services two service lines namely, Employee Benefits and Insurance Broking. Within Insurance Broking, Reinsurance Broking is being developed as a separate vertical and the goal is to build a Global Reinsurance Program in India. b. Framework & Boundaries : - Master Service Agreement and SLAs signed off with operating companies - Relevant regulatory authorities like FCA / FSR, the Pensions Trust, DWP, etc. Relationships : a. Subordinates - Day to day interaction with DRs to review and provide advice on exceptions - Weekly interactions with line management to review BAU - Skip level - meet at least 50% of the team once every 6 months b. Superiors - Weekly operational review meetings with Director Ops - Monthly one on one meetings with the Director IT - Monthly one on one meetings with the CEO - Need based / escalation based c. Others Within the company: - Collaborate with Management team of the operating companies to identify improvement opportunities and manage escalations - Participate and proactively contribute to general management activities of JLTI as a member of the Senior Management Team - Participate and proactively contribute to the overall operations team at JLTI - Collaborate with the Mumbai Teams to ensure smooth functioning and development of the Pune Centre Outside the company: - Clients and the consumers (pensioners) of JLT services - Vendors and statutory authorities related to the Pune Facility Person Specifications : a. Education Essential: - Graduate Desirable: - PG / MBA b. Work Qualifications Desirable: - LEAN / Six Sigma / KAIZEN c. Experience Essential: - 15 years plus experience in Insurance Broking/Reinsurance operations in financial services/ ITES or off shore processing organizations with proven track record in service delivery. OR - 11-15 years of Insurance Broking/ Reinsurance experience in tier 1 or 2 IT services companies or Tier 1 captives leading and running insurance/BFSI business, deliveries and technology practice/competencies. Desirable: - Should have managed teams of over 100 people. - Should have managed a P&L responsibility - Transition / migration experience of large processes d. Knowledge Essential: - Should have led global Reinsurance programs in the offshore environment in areas like Proportional, Non Proportional, Treaty etc - Should have managed a large team specifically in Reinsurance Broking or Underwriting domain as a specialist with Senior Management experience in Reinsurance - Should be able to understand the dynamics of Reinsurance Operations and engage with Global Reinsurance teams - Should have had experience in a mature offshore Reinsurance model with ability to lead large change programs and influence Global Operations Leaders on operational efficacy & driving consistency.
