Jana Group is one of India's best-known groups of not-for-profit institutions working towards the mission of fixing India's cities. Swati Ramanathan and Ramesh Ramanathan co-founded Jana Group in 2001 and it presently works across citizen participation and city governance reforms (through Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy), city planning and design (through Jana Urban Space Foundation), municipal consulting services (through Jana Urban Services for Transformation Pvt. Ltd.), banking and financial services for the urban poor (through Jana Small Finance Bank) and affordable housing for the urban poor (through Janaadhar).

Human Resources is a critical support function for Jana Group. The function ensures Jana Group delivers on its mission by providing expertise and support in the areas of talent acquisition, talent management, learning and development, statutory compliance, and employee engagement.We are looking for a highly competent, passionate professional to join the Human Resources function of Jana Group.

What will the Manager - Human Resources really do?

A) Talent Management

- Work with the management team to set up a talent sourcing strategy for the organisation

- Conduct external surveys to understand the market and candidate pool

- Engage with all sourcing channels (internal and external) to attract relevant talent pool

- Implement best practices for employer branding

- Work with hiring managers to ensure recruitment process is completed smoothly - for full time employees, consultants and interns

- Upon selection, complete the pre-joining, on-boarding and induction formalities in a structured and timely manner.

B) Performance Management

- Ensure goal setting and quarterly review processes are completed on time and documented

- Engage with external market and perform benchmark surveys for compensation as needed

- Work with management team to close out the appraisal cycle in time and provide inputs as needed

C) Payroll and Statutory

- Ensure payroll inputs are shared with accounts in time for salary payments

- Work with accounts team and external consultants to ensure all statutory reports are filed in time

- Ensure all aspects of employee life cycle are completed in a smooth and timely manner (joining, increment, exit etc.)

D) Learning and Development

- Work with managers to develop a learning plan for employees and implement the same

- Work with external content providers to create and deliver programs.

E) Organizational Culture

- Review/ introduce/ establish policies and practices that aim to make Jana the most inclusive work place.

- Ensure a vibrant and positive work culture is maintained and implement activities to achieve high employee motivation and morale.

- Work with the senior management to conduct timely employee satisfaction surveys and action as required.

F) HR related administrative tasks

- Ensure all consultancy and vendor agreements are in place and are reviewed regularly

- Respond to all staff queries in a timely and professional manner

- Coordinate with IT , Accounts & Admin department wherever required to ensure staff get all support

- Maintain files and all staff records in an easily accessible manner, with all safeguards and confidentiality.

Qualifications and Experience :

- MBA or an equivalent Master's degree in management with Human Resources as specialization;

- Not less than 6 years of experience in a similar role;

- Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills

- Prior experience of working in a not-for-profit is preferred though not mandatory.
