VSO is the world's leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries.
In Lesotho, VSO RHAISA's health programme key focus is to increase access and utilization of quality mother, neonatal and child health services and its Livelihood key focus is to enhance capacity of the rural poor (prioritising women and people living with HIV and AIDS) to have food security and sustainable income in VSO's priority geographical areas.
VSO RHAISA, Lesotho program is taking part in the implementation of the Swedish funded project which is being implemented in six countries of Southern Africa. The proposed programme will simultaneously empower women through raising awareness on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), improving access to comprehensive health services, and supporting income-generating activities (IGAs) to alleviate poverty.
VSO volunteer will help strengthen the M and E capacity of VSO-RHAISA partners, namely, Lesotho Network for People living with HIV (LENEPWHA), mothers2mothers and Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association in the country of Lesotho, to effectively plan, implement and evaluate their projects that respond to ASRH, HIV and AIDS and Economic Empowerment.
Role overview
- To support monitoring, evaluation and research activities for the Gender Empowerment and Development to Enhance Rights (G.E.N.D.E.R.) project in the country of Lesotho
- The volunteer will be placed with the partner and support them fully on development of monitoring and evaluation tools, report writing, project planning and training on monitoring and evaluation
The job involves travelling to the remote areas and communities of the Mafeteng district in Lesotho
Skills, qualifications and experience required
- Masters in Economics / Statistics with experience in training and mentoring other people
- He or she should have experience in managing donor funded projects targeting the marginalized poor communities
- Minimum 3 years- working experience in monitoring and evaluation related work
The candidate must have good interpersonal skills and be reliable. She or he must be able to adapt to situations and respect others' opinion while guiding them towards the right direction. The candidate should be able to share knowledge and skills with fellow colleague
