Introduction:

VSO is the world's leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO has extended its recruitment program to India through its partner iVolunteer Overseas (iVO). Since 2005, more than 200 committed and skilled volunteers have been placed through iVO program and have come back with enriched lives and careers.

Role overview:

The Ethiopian Ministry of Education has identified to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of general education planning, management and administration at all levels as a priority need. VSO in collaboration with UNICEF will support to strengthen the capacities for adequate planning and management at Regional Education bureau (REB) level in particular including at district and at school levels; also to improve the collection, analysis and use of information for decision making.

Hence the VSO Volunteer it is supposed to contribute to realizing one of the objectives of the VSO Ethiopia education programme: to promote the practices and cultures of participatory and accountable planning, leadership and management at all level: in schools, district (Woreda) education offices, REB, and teacher training institutes to respond to the needs of disadvantage groups.

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

- A minimum of MA degree in educational management and planning + minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership, management and other relevant areas (e.g. as head/deputy of educational institutes or head/deputy head teacher in primary/ secondary and tertiary education)

- Proven experiences in developing systems, and procedures in education project management, planning, and monitoring, evaluating; Experience in developing leadership and management training materials and delivering trainings.

Duration of the placement : 24 months
