VSO is the world's leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO has been working in Cambodia since 1991. In Cambodia, VSO presently focuses on 4 main programs areas-Secure Livelihoods, Education, Health and Governance.

Role overview :

VSO volunteer will work closely on the Increasing Market Access for Poor (IMA4P) project, which will build on the success of Making Markets Work for the Poor (MMW4P) programmes in Cambodia, to achieve systemic change by the permanent removal of barriers to market participation and promote the inclusion of poor and marginalised people, especially women.

VSO volunteer will support the project team in analysing power inequalities, including gender inequalities, between market actors in the rice value chain and advise the project team in making the project's interventions more inclusive.

In particular, the volunteers are required to :

- Support the project team in conducting a power analysis of the relationships between targeted market actors(to identify power inequalities between them)

- Conduct a gender analysis of the targeted primary actors (beneficiaries) for this project

- Support the project team in designing interventions that are sensitive to gender and the most vulnerable actors

- Train and engage project staff, volunteers and partners in making their approaches more inclusive of gender and the most vulnerable.

- Build linkages and coordinate with relevant stakeholders both at local and national level.

- As part of the IMA4P team, support the monitoring & evaluation adviser in providing relevant data for reporting.

- Network and build links with other VSO Cambodia volunteers to increase sharing and learning opportunities.

- If time allows, train VSO Cambodia staff on gender issues and help VSO Cambodia improve its gender and inclusion policy and practices especially in the livelihoods programme.

Duration of placement : 12 months

Skills, qualifications and experience required :

- Degree in Social Sciences, preferably a masters degree with a specialization in Gender and Development or other relevant field and 2-3 years of experience in gender and/or equality-related analysis, research and intervention.
