VSO is the world's leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO has extended its recruitment program to India through its partner iVolunteer Overseas.

As a head teacher or school leader you'll work with your counterpart in a developing country. You'll advise them on relationship management, resourcing and evaluation skills, and help them progress their stakeholder engagement. You'll assist on strengthening the relationship between teachers, directors and parents. You'll develop and train on monitoring systems for capitation grants. You'll identify opportunities for head teachers to develop staff unity and increase teacher motivation. The emphasis of your position will depend on the key objectives of the local partner.

Skills, qualifications and experience required :

You have a Bachelor degree in a relevant subject area. You have at least 5 years experience in a senior role such as head teacher or school leader, at primary level. You have a strong understanding of teaching quality and conducting inspections. VSO will assess all candidates against the following competencies, which make up VSO's volunteer competency framework. You're open minded and respectful. You're resilient and adapt well to new situations. You're able to facilitate positive change and build sustainable working relationships. But most of all, as this is the vision of VSO, you're competent to seek and share knowledge.

Countries where VSO is currently running education programmes with Education managers are Cambodia, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
