IT Purchasing Specialist :

The IT Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for acquisition of IT hardware, software, and services, with a specialization in software licensing and software asset management (SAM). Experience with major software manufacturers- licensing programs, especially Oracle and Microsoft, is essential. This position requires critical thinking skills, abililty to problem solve, and make recommendations as appropriate to technical staff and management.

Deputy Finance Controller :

- Manage software assets and understand licensing programs. Issue software license keys according to manufacturer terms of use.

- Interface with software vendors and resellers to research licensing options, place orders, and ensure software license compliance.

- Understand and perform Vendor management reviews and evaluate vendors for service quality and ease of doing business.

- Ensure orders are placed in a timely fashion according to MFX and/or customer SLAs.

- Follow through on orders placed to ensure fulfillment meets customer expectations.

- Coodinate lease end activities to buy out or return equipment.

- Provide budget information to Finance; ensure purchases are budgeted or adequate variance explanations are obtained.

- Reviews requests to download shareware or open source software and evaluates terms & conditions of open source software to ensure it meets MFX standards. Coordinates with Security to ensure software meets MFX minimum security requirements.

- Maintains department documentation and updates as required.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of, and experience managing, software licensing models and product use rights across major software vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, etc.

- Knowledge of techniques for negotiating favorable pricing

- Understanding of bidding processes and approaches

- Knowledge of server specifications, storage systems, network equipment

- Ability to review software license agreements and maintenance agreements and determine favorable/unfavorable terms and conditions needing further review/legal guidance.

- Precision in reviewing quotes for accuracy.

- Good mathematically ability

- Excellent MS Excel skills, including use of pivot tables, look up functions, etc.

- Excellent MS Word skills.

- High attention to detail.

- Effectively communicate relevant status information to superiors.

- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.

- Excellent written communication skills.

- Highly organized and able to work without direct supervision.

- Able to make sound and timely decisions.

- Good problem solver

- MBA or equivalent professional degree

- 7-8 years experience in IT hardware and software purchasing
