Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

Effective financial leadership to the business from a strategic perspective

- Actively build relationships and network with the business team and line management through communicating appropriately and proactively providing solutions to address business needs relating to finance

- Work to align financial objectives with business objectives and strategy (two-way alignment in terms of purpose and direction)

- Create an annual financial plan based on the stated purpose and direction of the business

- Identify existing or potential problem areas and advise the management team on how they can use financial processes to make improvements

- Develop effective financial systems to ensure consistent growth and sustainability for the organization

- Identify and develop key strategic alliances with role players outside Business Holdings and develop strategic partnerships with these role players

- Anticipate future trends or problems that may impact the overall strategic direction of the organization and communicate these to the senior management team; develop an action plan to ensure appropriate follow-through

Effective financial management :

- Communicate accurate, meaningful information to the Group

- Ensure effective financial reporting systems are implemented and maintained

- Provide a standardized format for preparing budgets and train people accordingly; vet budgets prepared by prepared formats

- Continually liaise with the business to understand exceptions in reporting and provide ongoing leadership and guidance

- Assess analysis of income statement and variances between actual and budget (monthly)

- Identify key areas for improvement and drive solutions

- Ensure relevant, best-practice analysis and reporting, providing ongoing guidance and coaching to the business

- Formulate and maintain a Delegation of Authorities framework

Effective process innovation, optimization, and enhancement :

- Identify and improve existing processes to ensure best practices are in place (e.g., Leave capturing, cell phone process, asset management, internal audit, etc.)

- Continually look at global markets to ensure benchmarks in sound financial practices are met

- Analyze and innovate to meet the needs of a rapidly changing business

Effective risk management :

- Ensure projects are managed by sponsor requirements

- Ensure appropriate liabilities management processes are implemented and maintained throughout the organization

- Establish and maintain appropriate asset management processes and procedures

- Ensure full custody of assets, insurance, control over cash, FOREX, and business risks

- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and ethics

- Continually raise awareness of what good corporate governance entails with all stakeholders (proactively remain abreast of the latest trends and legislation about good corporate governance)

- Continually assess ways of reducing risk whilst maintaining returns

- Continually monitor legislation and macro-environment to identify and manage additional risks

- Ensure the management team has a monthly Risk Identification and Action Plan Review to prioritize and manage risks

Effective operational management

- Evaluate various costing models to ensure effective pricing

- Ensuring the development of a cost model within the organization

Effective financial management of syndicate projects

- Continually liaise with stakeholders to understand exceptions in reporting and provide ongoing leadership and guidance

- Investigate and identify the requirements of projects and develop an action plan to ensure all requirements are met

Develop, source, and implement financial systems and procedures that will ensure the following takes place during a project phase:

- Sufficient resourcing has been sourced and allocated

- Systems have been developed and implemented to meet the project objectives

- The financial status of the project is accurately and effectively monitored

- All deviations during the project are identified and addressed

Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Forecasting

- Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division, and weekly cash flow by division.

- Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.

- Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches, and/or new service offerings.

- Develop and maintain a monthly operating budget and annual company operating budget.

- Manage financial planning and analysis department. Supervise the creation of reports, software implementation, and tools for budgeting and forecasting.

- Participate in weekly conference calls with Lenders, Vendors, and Executive Leadership Team.

Accounting, General Ledger, Administration, and Operations

- Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning of all systems, databases, and financial software. Provide regular maintenance and backup of all accounting systems and supervise company financial staff.

- Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial procedures.

- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for federal funders, foundations, investors, and the company's board of directors.

- Oversee the preparation and communication of weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.

- Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.

- Ensure SOX compliance regarding all financial functions.

- Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.

- Oversee the month-end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating inefficiencies.

- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.

- Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems

- Hire, develop and manage accounting directors, managers, and staff

- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.

- Coordinate and strategize methods used to attain team goals with Chief Accounting Officer and Regional Controllers.

Financial Management

- Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.

- Oversee cash, investments, and asset management area.

- Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.

- Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.

- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization's plans and operating budgets.

Financial Relations and Policies

- Engage the finance committee and/or board of directors to develop short-term and long-term plans, projections, and budgets.

- Represent the company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.

- Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal, and local laws regarding company operations.

Cash Management :

- Oversee weekly cash management and AP Department, approve large payables, sign checks, authorize large wires and ACHs

- Supervise Accounts Receivable management and provide guidance relating to the collection process

- Effective team leadership and people management

- Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports, managing their performance about quality standards, HR processes, and agreed on benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management:

- Recruitment

- Development

- Remuneration and Rewards

- Performance Management

- Career path planning

- On-the-job training, coaching & mentoring

- Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability

- Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display creativity, initiative, and commercial acumen

- Mentor and develop a team of senior managers and/or directors, managing work allocation, systems training, performance evaluations, and the building of an effective and efficient team dynamic.

- Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of the direct span of control within the three main company divisions.

Effective self-management

- Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained

- Demonstrate consistent application of internal procedures

- Plan and prioritize, demonstrating abilities to manage competing demands
