Investment Officer - Financial Sector - Microfinance

A leading Global Asset Manager specializing in development-related sectors of emerging economies. They comprise the areas of finance, agriculture, energy, healthcare and education. The Global Debt Fund provides debt and equity financing to non-listed companies with business models that target the lower-income section of the population and can thus drive economic growth and social progress. A Global Debt Fund offers professionally-managed investment solutions to both institutional and private investors.

For the Financial Institutions Debt Investments Asia Pacific team, they are looking for an Investment Officer for the Financial sector (Microfinance)

Main tasks

- Developing, managing and growing the Fund's financial sector debt Investments in Asia Pacific.

- Credit risk analysis of counterparties and their market risks within the region on-site and off-site, involving due diligence and scoring exercise.

- Interaction with the risk management team, investment committee, transactional team and external parties to implement and structure transactions.

- Responsible for the full investment cycle including sourcing, due diligence, implementation, portfolio management, monitoring and de-investment.

- Representing the company at conferences, seminars and other relevant events.

Experience and Skills

- Degree in economics, business administration, finance or a related field from a top institution; advanced graduation degree preferred.

- Minimum of 6 years of experience in the financial sector, with experience in the assessment and debt financing of financial institutions. Strong preference of experience assessing the banking industry

- Sound knowledge of the microfinance sector, vehicle leasing and retail finance

- Excellent oral and written English skills; 1-2 additional regional South Asian languages as advantage

- Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills

- Flexible and self-reliant personality with good intercultural skills

- Enthusiasm for development finance

This position will be base in Mumbai.
