Investment Banking - BFSI/AMC

Senior Analyst for a leading investment banking firm catering into insurance sector.

Job Description :

- Conduct market and competitive analysis about Asset Management industry and understand nuances of data sources

- Undertake secondary research and analysis with guidance and oversight from US and India research professionals

- Profiling key competitors of in Asset Management space using information across multiple data sources.

- Collaborate with Strategy and Business Development teams on knowledge management activities
Independently conduct deep analyses, generate insights and prepare final reports

- Use analytical tools, frameworks and methods (competitive benchmarking, SWOT, Five Forces, Strategic Competitor Profiling etc.) for generation of insights from available data and information

- Interact with US team to understand their analysis requirements and also throughout the life of the project (kick-off, interim review, final review etc)

- Establish working relationships with external research vendors to improve data understanding
Contribute to primary research projects occasionally, generating insights out of data

- Synthesise data out of multiple data sources to perform analysis about industry/companies/products

- Asses key markets/segments within the Asset Management market. These projects could be driven by news of high-performing segments/key competitor strategies. They would involve, quickly understanding the data structure for such market segments across multiple data-sources and presenting a coherent picture of the trends, outlook, key opportunities

- Expert in the databases to identify proactively key trends and issues which can be highlighted to the senior management; which could form the basis for new projects and which could result in independent thoughtpapers written by the team.

Job Specification :

- 4-5 years of exposure to the financial services industry preferably in Consulting domain.

- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, excellent data visualization skills, especially modeling and charts for presentations

- High proficiency with data analysis, producing insights, graphics or summaries of findings

- Meticulous attention to detail especially in all aspects of report making from research to preparation of presentation and client interaction with focus on zero defect outputs

- Excellent analytical ability with ability to synthesize large volumes of data into comprehensible and insightful information, process data to draw insights, answer “so what” questions about data and perform quantitative/ qualitative analyses

- Comfort with making conclusions based on limited data, working with unstructured data and niche industries and making intelligent assumptions for interpretation

- Self-starter with problem-solving orientation, strong time management skills, proactive and solution based approach

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are inline with US business practices
Direct and confident communicator with experience working with US team and firm understanding of US culture

- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate on a team

- Understanding of known industry analysis tools such as Porters’ Five Forces, SWOT analysis, Competitive Metrics, Quadrant Analyses such as BCG or GE matrix etc; also able to generate coherent and intelligent frameworks to convey own insights

- High level of intellectual curiosity

- Flexibility and ability to multi-task and prioritize comfortably

- Master’s degree required preferably MBA from premier Institute; CFA progress a plus

- Experience with financial databases required (e.g. Simfund, eVestment)

- Proficient at secondary research techniques such as identifying relevant sources, evaluating source credibility, keyword searching, etc.
