Job Description

- Drafting Patent Application (for filing in US and India) – Understanding invention disclosures related to various technical domains (electronics, communication, software, medical devices), determining novelty of invention based on comparison with known prior art, drafting patent application (including claims, detailed description, drawings).

- Drafting response to Office Action (for US applications)– Analyzing patent application and references cited in office action, determining differences between the patent application and cited references, formalizing strategies to respond on various objections/rejections (35 USC 101, 102, 103, and 112) in office action, amending claims and/or writing arguments to differentiate patent application from the cited references.

- Act as an overall project manager and also responsible for quality control of peers and subordinates (Research Associates)

- Project/ Client Management (Senior Research Associate acting as a project manager):

- Project delivery: Responsible for leading the project execution in tandem with a manager or independently and responsible for overall quality and timely delivery of project reports.

- Training: Training new Research Associates on IP research projects, patent application drafting, preparing response to office action, and patent laws.

Skill Set Required

- Strong analytical skills with thorough understanding of the technology domain

- Excellent written and verbal communication (English) with particular ability in creative and persuasive writing

- Excellent comprehension and presentation skills

- Responsible attitude and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner

- Well developed interpersonal and active listening skills

- Prior experience of handling teams (2-4 team members) or projects independently

- Excellent knowledge of using MS Office (Excel, PPT, Word)

- Be able to mentor subordinates (2-4 team members) to meet quality and time based milestones

- Be able to review drafts prepared by subordinates and provide detailed feedback
