India Controller - Fund accounting (Hedge/ Private) ACCOUNTING MANAGER / CONTROLLER POSITION BACKGROUND: U.S. based Investment Manager that manages multiple hedge funds with over $3B assets under management. It's investment strategy comprises of investing in both public and private equities globally, with a focus in trading in Indian capital markets. This position is currently remote but is anticipated to be based in South Mumbai. Requirements : - 5+ years relevant accounting experience preferably in investment/asset management industry (hedge funds, private equity/VC, etc. - Detail-oriented with focus on clear, concise documentation. Attention-to-detail is a must. - Great communication skills, both written and oral. Able to effectively communicate to senior team members and external parties. - Able to perform in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines. Flexible and able to manage multiple projects concurrently and multi-task. - Self-starter. Able to work independently and proactively research to figure out solutions. - Conscientious, responsible, and reliable worker. Has a roll-up-their sleeve, 'no work is too little' positive attitude. - Functional with Excel (e.g. formulas/pivot tables, etc.) Job Description : - Assist with trade operations for local, India trades involving facilitating trade settlement process and clearing trade settlement breaks. - Serve as primary liaison with Offshore, Mauritius and Indian-based fund administrators, bankers, custodians, and brokers. Resolve any differences with 3rd parties. - Assist Controller with private investment funding for private deals. - Responsible for reviewing Fund NAV for Mauritius Entities. - Review annual, IFRS Audited Financial Statements for Mauritius Entities. Manage audit process. - Review Mauritius and India Tax Returns. - Assist Controller with Mauritius and India compliance and regulatory filings. - Perform reconciliations for cash, trades and securities with bank and broker statements. - Serve as a bridge between US Accounting and the India-based Investment Team. - Assist Controller with managing the India Office. Includes accounting books, cash management, accounts payables, negotiating vendor payments, expense reports and payroll. - Liaise with India-based tax accountants and payroll providers. - Ad-hoc projects/reports, as needed. - Help identify process improvements and enhance efficiencies. Not a requirement, but a plus if previous experience with MSFS, SANNE, or has familiarity with Mauritius & India FPI/FDI regulations.
