(Overview of Dept./Function): - RC Risk Strategy team at Offshore supports the design and build out of the Regulatory Conduct within HSBC Global Compliance function. - Regulatory Conduct is a Group Capability within the Compliance function that sets standards and infrastructure to support stewardship of Regulatory Compliance risks for the group. - The Conduct Analytics team is a small, new team within the Group Regulatory Conduct function that is defining a strategy for making better use of data and analytics to support stewardship of Regulatory Compliance risks and associated Conduct Outcomes. - Conduct Analytics is currently developing two new solutions to improve the stewardship service for Regulatory Compliance risks. These two tools, Early Warning System ('EWS') and RC Applied Intelligence Dashboard ('RAID'), provide RC Risk Stewards with improved oversight of transactional, account, product and customer information in the context of the Regulatory Compliance risks and related Conduct Outcomes. - The role holder is expected to be able to interpret outputs from these tools to investigate and prepare briefings for the relevant RC Risk Stewards. The role holder will interact with key RC stakeholders in country, region and Group to deliver an imperative support service, helping RC Risk Stewards to understand analytical outputs and develop a course of action where necessary. - The role holder will be required to use various Regulatory Conduct-owned systems to consolidate data related to Conduct outcomes and relevant issues/actions for senior management. This will involve the preparation and delivery of reports as well as qualitative information related to breaches and agreed courses of action. The role holder will need to engage with risk stewards to ensure regular updates are received. - The role holder will be engaged and should participate in the development of RC Conduct Analytics and the associated EWS and RAID systems. The Opportunity: (Brief Overview of the Role): - A new group capability has been established to execute against the Compliance Target End State vision to improve analytical capabilities for stewardship of Regulatory Conduct Risks &amp; related Conduct Outcomes. This role sites within that capability and will include responsibilities for: - Investigation of analytical system outputs that involves the interrogation of data to understand key drivers of alerts - Producing reports to support Risk Stewards taking an intelligence-led approach to overseeing changes in 1LoD portfolio RC Risks &amp; Conduct Outcomes, identifying areas where there may be potential detriment requiring further investigation - Consolidating information from various Regulatory Conduct systems and producing MI for senior risk management forums, including information on escalations and agreed actions - The role will involve working with stakeholders across Regulatory Conduct in country, regional and Group roles to report initial findings on Conduct Outcome-related breaches. The role holder will also be expected to work closely with the central RC Conduct Analytics team to support Conduct Analytics processes - The successful applicant will need to have excellent data analysis skills, Regulatory Compliance knowledge, conduct risk knowledge (desirable), an inquisitive and investigative mind-set, good report writing and communication skills, as well as a good understanding of project management techniques, in order to achieve the team's objectives What you'll do: (List out Key Responsibilities): Principal Accountabilities: - Supporting RC Risk Stewards by providing specialist assistance in comprehending EWS and RAID analytical outputs, as well as root causes and appropriate courses of action. Ensuring that consistent actions are taken in response to similar issues across the in-scope markets. - Supporting the sharing of findings across markets where there may have cross-application, ensuring customer/product behaviours resulting in poor customer outcomes are identified across all in-scope markets. - Logging any relevant findings in the relevant system and tracking findings through to completion. - Producing initial drafts of MI for RC Governance forums globally, ensuring consistent communication and escalation, as well as up to date information on actions taken to address appetite/tolerance breaches. - Contributing to the regular reviews of the EWS and RAID systems, ensuring information continues to be fit for purpose and statistics are accurate. Specific responsibilities : - Identifying patterns in customer behaviours within EWS. - Perform initial investigation into potential patterns and trends in underlying customer or product base as a root cause - Overseeing the RAID dashboards and initially investigating any patterns in product behaviours which could result in customer detriment. Escalating observations and findings to the relevant RC Risk Stewards. - Maintaining effective relationships with RC Risk Stewards and ensuring timely, targeted communication of any breaches/observations from EWS and RAID. - Oversee internal and external landscape for incidents and triggers that may warrant an intelligence led analytical response to support stewards. Collating these and managing alert workflow through the RAPID2 system for further investigation. - Prepare initial reports on EWS and RAID outputs for senior RC committees, ensuring clear and effective reporting of the relevant markets' RC &amp; Conduct risk profiles, as well as any identified issues and associated actions Supporting responsibilities / capabilities : - Supporting the implementation and embedding of EWS and RAID products to the Global RC Risk Steward community - Providing innovation to the development of EWS and RAID products through contribution of ideas to their on-going enhancement - Testing of any new releases and enhancements to the EWS and RAID products - Supporting the on-going maintenance of vital framework documentation such as the Metrics Definition Guide What you will need to succeed in the role: (Minimum Qualification and Skills Required) - Excellent knowledge and understanding of: Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Operational Risk Management Framework - Risk Frameworks - An understanding of the concepts supporting a risk management framework, the lines of defense and how they interact and how a risk profile is established, with key risks identified and appropriate controls mapped. Knowledge of how a risk profile can be challenged and remediation activities tracked - Regulatory Risks - Knowledge of the wider regulatory environment and some idea of the likely regulatory risks and upcoming changes that are mostly likely to impact HSBC and which areas of our business are likely to be most affected. Knowledge and understanding of the global regulatory environment and key compliance risk trends as well as practitioner-level knowledge of regulatory obligations in multiple jurisdictions; - Business Processes - Candidates should have an overall understanding of the different types business of HSBC and the types of products offered by each and how these businesses are supported by middle and back offices - Analytical Skills - The candidates must be able to understand source data, compare information from across the three lines of defense and reach a conclusion, identifying anomalies and where further input required. This includes both strong verbal and numerical analysis, as successful applicants will have to use numerical comparison and close reading of rationales to reach suitable conclusions - Stakeholder Engagement - Candidates must feel confident engaging with onshore stakeholders directly, including 1LoD and 2LoD stakeholders.
