Purpose of Department &amp; Role Responsibilities - The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) Offshore team, part of Client Management Group, GBM derives its central functionality from its presence in three Global Service Centers (GSC) based in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Guangzhou (collectively known as CAU Offshore). The CAU team supports Global Banking with high quality credit applications to identify the relevant credit risks and recommends the corresponding mitigants to address them. The CAU Offshore team works closely with GRBs/RBs and provides an interactive interface with Risk to facilitate the credit approval process. The CAU team and the GRB/RB will have joint ownership of the credit proposal submission process with each undertaking and fulfilling their role to maximise business objectives. - The role requires the Manager to be part of the Projects and Business Operations (PBO) team to liaise with onshore and offshore CAU stakeholders and locally with the supporting departments which would enable him/her to carry out the duties as well as assist senior management. Given the nature of the role, prospective candidates should also have some domain expertise of the GBM Credit Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas Typical KPIs and Targets - Impact on the Business: - Guide/ Monitor projects undertaken by the Team/Dept. - Assist in development, testing and implementation of new business application and tools. - Work closely with the Central Team / Business Management teams to maintain staff data management, track any other related activities and provide periodical update to management teams. - Liaise with various teams involved in headcount billing / chargeback on monthly basis. Ensure consistent and timely completion of various governance packs. Streamline data gathering, production and reporting for the packs. - Lead team and manage day to day activities of the team specifically hired for projects undertaken by CAU. - Ensure timely implementation of projects undertaken. - Escalation of risks and issues in deliverables. - Publishing accurate and timely governance packs related to department's KPIs/ projects - Accuracy of staff database &amp; providing regular updates to management - Ensuring accuracy in headcount billing and addressing queries from finance, central teams and business stakeholders. - Assist in hiring and leading of such teams Customers / Stakeholders: - Set and continually manage expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Liaise with stakeholders on an ongoing basis. - Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project. - Interact with Onshore / Offshore Managers &amp; others in Credit Analysis Unit globally and address issues and escalations. - Proactive resolution of issues, management of stakeholder expectations and positive feedback from stakeholders. - Ability to turn around deliverables with short lead time. Finance: - Monitor actual / projected expense levels versus budgets &amp; explain major variances. - Manage expense control procedures for the Function / Region, identifying and implementing cost savings and administrative / internal controls. - Define and implement financial reporting measures and support the AOP process. - Timely interaction with the finance team for the reports and advice all concerned of major variance and corrective steps required. - Effective management and reporting of internal expenses and communicating with various stakeholders. - Overall involvement in the AOP process. Leadership &amp; Teamwork: - Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and concise manner. - Liaise with various other departments across CAU, Global Banking and Markets for completion of deliverables. - Lead, inspire and motivate colleagues to ensure high quality work is delivered to a timely, professional standard. - Support project support functions such as data quality and testing teams to cover key projects aspects during their tasks - Conduct timely performance feedback discussions and responsible for daily problem resolution - Regular interactions with project and business stakeholders. - Management / facilitation of delivery completion in coordination with impacted parties. Operational Effectiveness &amp; Control: - Suggest and design improvements to current process workflow - Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. - Plan and schedule delivery timelines &amp; milestones using appropriate project management tools. - Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise. - Proactively suggest any process improvement or efficiencies. - Effective management of inter-dependencies with other projects. - Reduction in data reconciliations and data quality issues. Other responsibilities - Maintain high standards of professional conduct and be a role model for the team - Maintain HSBC internal control standards and implement the Group Compliance Policy, wherever applicable - Need to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role, and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring. - Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC and regulatory standards, policies and practices. Qualifications - Skills / Experience Required: - Master's in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent is essential - A good understanding of the finance/ accounting - Experience in credit team or financial institutions will be useful - Candidate's current/past profiles should have involved extensive interactions with onshore teams - Highly proficient in Excel, Word and power point. - Excellent written and presentation skills; strong ability to portray a macro view and also an eye for detail - Highly customer oriented and interested in providing top quality customer service - Organized, diligent, and above all a good team player - Five to eight years of relevant work experience in the area of Finance and credit related projects e.g. development of PD models, RWA calculating Models.
