HR Director

Looking for an HR Director with 12 plus years of post MBA, strong HR Business Partnering experience, to be based at Hyderabad. The person should have experience setting up a Green Field Project; hiring for such a project and setting up the Training function for the organisation. We are open to look at people from Hotel, Transport and Facilities Management Organisations

Context

- The Human Resources Director will be Hyderabad Metro’s first locally hired employee, reporting directly to the Managing Director and a member of the Senior Management team. Prior to metro launch in March 2015, the HR Director will draft and implement

- HR policies and lead the recruitment of metro employees. Once normal operations are underway, he/she will manage the HR and Training functions, including but not limited to:

- employee recruitment and retention, training, organizational and employee development, compensation and
benefits, health and safety, labor / employee relations, record-keeping, business leadership, and ethics and sustainability

Objectives Prior to Metro Launch

- Develop an HR strategy for the Hyderabad operation in alignment with the Group HR policies that supports the delivery of the company objectives

- Develop HR Plans and manuals (organisation, recruitment, training, etc.) and ensure that each plan is implemented within the appropriate timeframe

- Build HR team

- Recruit 500 employees in collaboration with HR team and recruitment agencies

- Supervise setup of Training Center

Roles & Responsibilities – Normal Operations

General

- Leads and manages the Human Resources and Training functions

- Monitors, updates and assures ethical application of HR policies

- Manages and develops an HR team that is service-driven, results-focused and operationally aligned

- Provides internal support and guidance to line management regarding HR issues

- Liaises with our client (L&T), service providers (lawyers, payroll provider, recruitment agencies, etc.) and government officials

- Liaises with the International HR team via visits, phone calls, and monthly reporting (headcount, recruitment, training, costs, unions, best practices)

Recruitment

- Develops and implements effective recruitment strategies to ensure organisational competence and operating efficiency

- Maintains up-to-date recruitment progress reports, talent database

- Supervises campus management, internship programs, and internship follow up

- Develops relationships with employment websites, feeder schools and other mechanisms

- Manages employee onboarding program and other employee retention initiatives Training

- Manages and coordinates employee training so as to ensure appropriate coverage on projects requiring
specific expertise Organizational and Employee Development

- Oversees performance evaluations

- Manages internal mobility and succession planning

Employee Relations

- Fosters a positive working environment through employee relations
activities and communication (teambuilding programs, employee work groups, speakers, special events, etc.)

- Develops and manages a process for handling employee complaints, disputes and grievances Labor Relations

- Ensures compliance with legal regulations governing labor relations and unions; stays abreast of current trends

- Builds and maintains a partnership model with unions and other relevant stakeholders

Hyderabad Metro Rail Project – Job Description

Required:

- Minimum 10 years’ experience in developing and implementing human resource strategy, policies and programs in a service-driven, complex environment.

- Experience in Greenfield projects or significant business expansion in terms of headcount

- Solid knowledge of local HR practices, legal requirements and labor regulations

- Fluency in English

- Effective verbal and written communicator

- Able to both lead and take a hands-on approach to projects

- Able to see things from a “big picture” perspective

- Leadership style includes an on-the-ground presence and understanding of employee roles and work
conditions

- Manages teams effectively

- Results-oriented

- Proactive; takes initiative

- Possesses a sense of service towards both internal and external clients

- Able to persuade and influence

- Determined and displays tenacity

- Charismatic

- Ethical: complies with applicable laws and regulations

Preferred:

- Experience with in-house training

- Experience in an international environment

- Fluency in French, Urdu, Hindi, Telugu, or another local language
