- Ensure underwriting contracts are administered and recorded accurately, and on time. - Assess risks that are received and underwrite using judgement and experience and in compliance with underwriting guidelines. - Act as a member of, co-ordinate and lead the Underwriting Committee and Claims and Reserving Committee. - Design, negotiate and execute Retrocession Programme. - Liaise with brokers, underwriters and legal advisers (when necessary) to understand detailed clauses within contracts written and claims developing. - Reviewing, approving, settling or denying complex claims in accordance with claims procedures. - Managing projects, developing and implementing new procedures for underwriting and claims processing to drive forward continuous process improvement. - Designing and producing useful, accurate and detailed management information. - Liaise with reserving actuaries to ensure adequacy of claims reserves. - Manage all claims matters in respect of a complex retrocession programme to support reinsurance recoveries. - Coordinating the preparation of Board and Committee papers and subsequently present the findings. - Coordinate audit functions with internal and external auditors as needed. - Understand and monitor global catastrophes and major risk losses that might affect the company. - Deliver and monitor delivery of Underwriting Service and Claims Service in accordance with agreed standards and Key Performance Indicators - Liaise with the finance department accurate and timely production of Management and Financial Accounts. - Liaise with A.M. Best as directed by the Board of Directors.
